WoW was unlike any game ever made. I remember during my second deployment to Iraq, we got a local guy to hook us up with hotspot internet and I introduced my platoon sergeant to WoW. He took a mage to level 80 in like a month. During missions we would talk about raids and character builds. I paid for two separate accounts and linked both using something called keyclone so that both screens would respond to one button press. So whatever one character did, the other would do too. It's called multiboxing. It wasn't uncommon to start playing Friday at the barracks in Germany and not stop until morning formation on Monday. I mean this game was all-consuming for years. So this episode became lore to the community.

Free MMORPG's .... Free to Play / Pay to win. There's always a group of rich people on a server in one of these games who'll spend like 1,000 grand a month on the IRL item shop. You'll never beat those people no matter how much you grind. I used to play a game called Last Chaos like 20 years ago lol. Pretty great game tbh until you hit the level ceiling but the game died because a few people would load up on thousands of dollars worth of pots and camp out all day on the pvp server just one hitting anyone who left the safety of the spawn town.

Fun Fact: Matt and Trey worked with Blizzard (owners and creators of World of Warcraft) who gave them the same assets that the game uses and helped them with the episode. Additionally, Matt tried to get this episode pulled before it aired because he thought it was terribly done, but the network said it was too late... This episode ended up earning an Emmy in 2007 Correction: It was Trey Parker that tried to pull the episode

The absolute best South Park episode I highly recommend is the one where their parents go to rent a movie for both the kids and the adults. The kids got Lord of the Rings and the adults got a porno. However the tapes ended up getting mixed so the kids ended up with the adult film and the adults ended up with lord of the rings. I promise that episode is more than worth it.

Being an already longtime WoW player when this came out, i got every reference aswell as every mistake they made with the game, which i have no doubt were put in purposely to aggrevate the nerds. Matt and Trey wanted to make this episode as at one point they said WoW was on computer screens in the studio about as much as the South Park animation program was, as both them and the crew were addicted to the game, and thus making fun of themselves as well.

One cool thing is that Mass Effect included characters named Leeroy J. Jenkins and Richard Leeroy Jenkins in the first game. Leeroy J. Jenkins is Richard Leeroy Jenkins's dad in Mass Effect lore. That was after the WoW 'Leeroy Jenkins' video went viral. Richard Leeroy Jenkins rushes into battle in the first mission of Mass Effect and dies. So, BioWare was giving a nod WoW.

The story of the Sword of 1000 Truths is a loose reference to a real story about an item called Martin Fury. It was a shirt that had an insta-kill effect, used by developers in testing, but of course never meant for players. During a routine character restoration, a player was accidentally given Martin Fury. They didn't really go on any sort of rampage though; if im remembering right they instakilled a difficult raid boss and that's how it got found. An item with the actual name "Sword of 1000 Truths" wasn't added till after this episode.

WoW is.....time consuming. However I have never stopped playing. Once you start it is hard to stop. C: This episode was actually my first introduction to the Warcraft series. They also have RTS games that are pretty awesome.
