Where was this woman when people were calling me racist and fatphobic because I wasn't okay with a secret santa artist changing my character to their personal preference😭 I literally hate drawing heavy characters now after people tried to forcibly change my character from small, petite fairy to a literally morbidly obese 50 year old woman with man hands... and nobody supported me in this, everyone I knew at that time just kept bashing me for not wanting my character changed to an artist's personal preference! It depends on the clothes they were wearing, if the shirt was tight then they’d show but if it was loose or thick then it wouldn’t show. Toji and Alhaitham are good examples of muscular bodies with tight shirts while loose clothing like Laxus Dreyar or thick clothing like Wriothesley could hide their muscular build.

I feel like that applies to any sort of body adjustments, like making a character slimmer or bigger in terms of weight, or claiming they're trans because they might look subtly masculine/feminine if you squint hard enough and then drawing them with a shirt off and surgery scars or something. im glad Kooleen is growing as an artist and seeing that she doesn't need to pander to what people want for her art and that they can call her whatever they want, but that doesn't mean their preferences are better than hers. Preferences are just that, and tips are just tips, artists should have an open mind and not take tips or preferences as gospel. I think the best thing about this video is not only the genuine tips on learning how to draw better, but also with the fact that Kooleen talked about capturing a character's essence I think it's very important that when it comes to drawing or writing a character that doesn't belong to you in general it's better to follow the canon information given by the creators themselves alongside the canon designs made for the characters I personally think it to be disrespectful if you start changing things about a character and their design cause it's just inaccurate to how they are, how they look and how they act in general ykwim Props to Kooleen for talking about that cause I genuinely think everyone in the world should have that kind of ideology when it comes to making fanart or fanfics

the real secret to drawing symmetrical eyes is stop winging it and think about what you're drawing. a specific eye is constructed of specific shapes, if you understand those shapes you can build the companion eye.
