It's the new Phantom Lancer! He's played a lot more teamfight/chase and a lot less run hordes of illusions at heroes and hope they don't have enough aoe to clear them.
He's really fun! Higher skill cap, more decision making, and less split pushing. His item builds in the late game are pretty variable, and he is in some ways easier to gank. Check out my thoughts and see him played by watching the video. Enjoy!

Played a game last night as PL with a friend who picked Oracle and we stumbled on the greatest bromance in DotA2. Oracle makes up for all of PL's survivability issues, he purges and stops the enemy. He can de buff the enemy to take 50% more physical damage which PL puts out in spades. In short if you get a buddy try out a Phantom Lancer Oracle dual lane and be happy.

Btw, diffusal now purges Ursas Attackspeedbuff, so it would have been a good Idea to use that, and then kill him^^.

Freenix PL was meant to be played as a Split Push hero. I think the real reason why PL is remade is because whatever you want to do with PL(which is split pushing), in the highest competitive level, Naga does it better for the most part.

screwtokaiba PL was meant to be played as a "Confuse the fuck out of your opponents with illusions and tricks" hero not a bloody rat.The rework made him alot more that than a splitpusher wich in my personal opinion is better.He might not be as viable, not sure yet, but he is a blast to play now.The patch as a whole is great honestly.It makes everything grander(controling ancients,entangling whole forests, that huge blood thing that BS has now, etc.)

Play PL mid, get Power Treads and Aquila early on. Bottle is good too to keep you relevant in lane. Core items Diffusal Blade and Manta. Farm in the early game (gank if you can) and then roam in mid game. You can snowball easily.

A question. If you get Skadi it does stack with Diffusal Blade? Because both are unique attack modifiers. So when Purge says Skadi is a good item on PL, if he got Skadi he would have to sell Diffusal?

Purge you really need to try denying a bit more when carrying, especially with the changes you could have lost that bm at least 1 level.

Yes, but your illusions don't get the Skadi slow. So you slow them with your hero, and the illusions still drain their mana.

Purge, it seems like you forgot all the item patches, diffusal gives 25 manaburn on both levels now, and BOTs are not really a waste, ofcourse the free tp's all game although its true they became cheaper, but also 10s less tp cooldown!

Really? I think he's kinda meh now, especially when compared with before. The new abilities are just about as good as the old, but his illusions and his stats were nerfed so hard that it seems unlikely he'll ever again be the king he once was. Now BS and Anti-Mage are the undisputed pub-stompers, imo.

I played against bots and bloodseeker killed me with 1 spell... I had almost 4k hp.. he just cast it and ran off while my health just drained to zero In seconds, you are forced to get eye of skaldi just to stop his ridiculous speed.. I wonder if I can hotkey the special illusion you get from Doppleganger. That would be really good for confusing enemies cause people always go for the one that's running away and since it takes same dmg as you do you could actually make them drop stuns on it and then get away yourself.

Why didn't you go vlads on pl? It's a fantastic item on him it allows him to farm forever without going back to base and farm faster with the extra damage and you can fight early. From there you can go diffusal manta heart butterfly 40 mins in.

PurgeGamers It depends on the way you get them or how you drop them then pick them up. Assuming both items are completed, drop them on the ground. Pick them up in this order. 1. Diffusal 2. Skadi. This will do 2 things, 1. Hero shall use the most recent UAM (Skadi). 2. Illusions will bypass Skadi (Because they can't use it), and would then use the only UAM they can use (Feedback)

For anyone who doesn't know how you make your illusions get Mana burn and then have another 1 or 2 attack modifiers, such as a hero like Spectre or perhaps PL where you get Diffusal, Skadi and Satanic, here is how: 1. Drop all your Attack Modifiers. 2. Pick up the items with the effect you want your hero to have. eg. Deso, Satanic+Skadi etc. 3. Pick up Diffusal and put it in the first slot in your inventory (top-left), this means the illusions you create will have the Diffusal effect take precedence over the Skadi one. This allows Spectre's main hero to have great chase with her Q, Skadi and Diffusal Charges, and her illusions to do more. What's funny, is now PL has the exact same conditions, in fact even better, because of his E. I think PL has become more of a pestering chaser than anything, rather than a split-pushing master who is annoying as hell late game, especially to teams without AoE. So I think Getting Manta, Power Treads, Drum, Satanic, Skadi and Diffusal would be a really powerful build, especially if you get fairly low in a fight and just skadi to full to keep being a pest.

PL seems weaker to me. His team fight is slightly better since it doesn't depend on spawning illusions as much, but basically he is a lot worse farmer and a lot worse pusher. AOE ability heroes now are a lot more effective against him since the illusions are so much weaker. Skadi seems extremely pointless to me. The strength and intelligence are pretty much pointless. The diffusial slow, lance and charge are more than enough to chase heroes. Why stack 3 slows? Skadi is 6k gold, just get a 3rd diffu recipe if you really need a slow. Treads, Diffu, Drums, Manta, Fly, Daedelus is definitely the way to go now if you ask me. Basically you want your illusions to deal as much DPS as possible. Daedelus is definitely loads better than Skadi or Basher.

The hero is more boring now, I think. He's definitely easier since you just right click on people and there's no micro involved. You have to be able to react to projectiles to dodge with your Doppel, but that's about it. He just doesn't really do much. His illusions don't do anything besides the Diffusal burn. The MKB and Abyssal would have done more on a hero with an actual steroid, like PA or whatever.

just ideas and would like to know ppl opinions. if mana is not going to be a problem, is going S&Y ok for early game? question does the illusion get the mani(slow) from the S&Y? after that i just imagine you finish manta, then halberd. then build butterfly since halberd can be disassembled. then as tanky just satanic & stati. since illusions are not as the main thing, getting the lifesteal in the fight and staying in the fight would be more important. those are 4 items so i guess deadalus crits work on illusions?? i think and having those illusion deal 2.4 times more damage would be better than just stacking agility since the damage they get per aghi is lower than before. anyways thoughts, the only bad thing i can see it is that could be too hard but i feel the S&Y is good early.

I tried playing PL for the first time after the patch, not even knowing what his abilities did beforehand and what to do with him in general. I really like the hero and I think he's actually really fun and quite easy to play :D

Is there a some sort of comeback system in Dota 2 now? Because I was playing a game and my team was really ahead of the other team, we had destroyed the mid barracks and were going to win. Then some how the wraith king and pa on the other team are now level 25 and both have abyssl blade even though the pa had been kill 8 time and had only 5 kills. Wraith king didn't do much all he did was sort of walk around the map.I checked their item and neither of them had a midas. So can someone tell me if you get more gold and exp if you are losing?

Since heart PL isnt as viable now, do you think Vanguard will get play again on him? For regen purposes, or is there an item better. Last option just make sure you have healing supports.

Dust of Appearance shows a visible debuff icon above the heads of every hero it effects, even if they weren't invisible when you cast it. It cannot effect illusions, so using dust is a way to remove all of the guesswork from dealing with illusions.

I believe that getting Vladmirs Offering after Power Treads is always a good idea because you can jungle like a beast and survive while pushing.

It seems like vlads would actually be a good item now on pl, in the past I never got it but now that you are such a close up melee hero that keeps charging in and your illusions just keep spawning it seems good, especially when you get a ring at the start which is like 1/4 of the cost.

I feel like the illusions need a small buff of some kind, like maybe the duration of the illusions should reset if they get sucked up into doppelganger and thrown out again, as if they were getting recreated into full duration again, maybe even restoring their health.

Ursa got 2800 gold at the end there when pl dies even though he wasn't the one that got the killing blow, so weird, meanwhile sf who actually got the kill got 1200ish? weird as

i feel that you only need 1 level of doppel if you are just laneing. you should make your q for the slow with your ult and the e for chasing, getting last hits and that once every 4 seconds. if you are ganked you can doppel into the trees or on a cliff where you are out of sight since this would be early game and not many would get a blink yet.

PL looks so damn fun to play now, I mean the chase at 16:00 with the triple kill! Love how you can dodge projectile stuns + chase so efficiently!
