Great! This is very precious record. Many locomotives contained in this video are already retired or scheduled to be retired in near future. EF 200 is one of that's example. It's used only less than 28 years long yet! And, JR Freight will no longer maintain their DD 51s. Unlike steam locomotives, electric or diesel locomotives aren't regarded as symbolic things of the railway, they will not to be preserved with operable condition. 3:32 - EF 66 was developed in 1968, not in 1966. 4:12 - There is an EF 67 (A red locomotive). This is last locomotive in Japan which developed for use as rear helper engine dedicatedly. Probably it will be retired within few years.

If you can, find an EF62. They are the only Co'-Co' wheel arrangement electric locos in Japan.

私の場合、機関車といえば、〝碓氷峠のEF63〟をイメージします。紺とベージュの国鉄色、いいですよね。 私の地元の平野でも、EF64、65は、走っている路線があります。運良く、見る事が出来た時は嬉しいですね。

The japanese locomotives may be old but they are beautifully restored and maintained unlike old freight locomotives in Europe that often look appalling with fainted paint, graffiti and dirt. Only the new locomotives in Europe look good and what I especially noticed about the japanese freight trains is something I have never seen in Europe. No grafitti what so ever anywhere. In Europe many trains, especially freight trains get vandalized with grafitti. The japanese freight trains are the most clean and beautiful ones I have ever seen. It also seems Japan only rarely uses locomotives for pulling passenger trains again very much unlike in Europe and the .U.S. where many passenger trains are still pulled by electric or even diesel locomotives. Even many of the european highspeed trains like the french TGV, italian ETR 500, spanish Talgo and the old Eurostar are all loco pulled and pushed passenger bullet trains.

7:10 深夜みたいだから大阪→札幌向けかな？新津駅に入るトワイライトエキスプレス。 個人的にはEF66の55番までが好き。飾り多めのデザインが、どこか欧米の大陸横断鉄道を彷彿とさせるので。特に鉄道好きではないので、性能など詳しい事はわかりません。そんなんで、同じEF66でも 100番台はあまり好きじゃないです。
