Learned "Sheltered in the Arms of God" when I was about 10. This song is the one I sing when life just really just gets over on me. I sure miss Tammy Faye and Dottie. 2 of God's greatest.

You know, I have been walking through the TOUGHEST season I have EVER faced in my adult life. I was raised in child abuse: physical and emotional. The Lord radically saved me and started his redemptive work in me years upon years ago. But for many of those years, I have faced very challenging times where I could ONLY make it through by clinging to Christ. Today, I was listening to a well dressed pastor. He was sharing, but I said, “Father, I simply cannot relate nor handle his message. I am hurting, seriously hurting right now. Can you PLEASE let me hear someone talk about walking through the fire WITH YOU LORD! I just can’t handle the message of ‘you will suffer but God’s gonna bless you with a prestige and fame amongst man. You will be royalty like Joseph.’ That might be news for some, but my Heavenly Father has taught me how suffering IS Christ-like. Four minutes after my prayer, I discovered this multi-part interview where THIS SAINT is weeping but STILL PROCLAIMING PRAISES to God and Christ AND THE HOLY SPIRIT whilst IN THE MIDST of the fire and suffering! And this interview has impacted my SOUL this morning. This IS an example of taking up the cross and following Jesus on this broken fallen realm. Thank you for sharing this full interview. This is the type of testimony we need to hear spoken by pastors who KNOW how to stand IN CHRIST during the toughest physically and emotionally debilitating seasons of living for Christ in this world.

Did Dottie die two months after this recording? She died Mother’s Day 2008, I think. I was driving a bus in Kansas and they were driving in Missouri. I got my one and only speeding ticket on I-70, one state over from her bus around the time their bus crashed. My friend knew her driver. We were all out of Nashville and that accident rocked a lot of drivers. I didn’t even know Dottie’s music. I only knew her legendary name because of the industry.
