Double-decker MPCNC first cut

Finally measured stiffness (roughly 0.010 inch per kg) which was my first priority. After that, felt comfortable doing some milling. This is Ryan's pre-generated gcode.
Even with the huge Z travel and long stickout, the stiffness is better than my other machine, so this is a good starting point for perhaps 4- or 5-axis experimentation, and maybe give aluminum a try.
Of course with the large working area I can set up a tool changer and still have reasonable working space remaining.

Yes, I measured stiffness to the different modes of deflection and the greatest deflection by far is tilting of the Z axis away from vertical, especially as the Z travel increases. The only real purpose to the upper gantry is to hold the Z axis vertical. Stiffening against tilt then allows a large Z working range.
