@@mr.awesome6011 No it still sucks. I think the Japanese Arcade version is better because it completely eliminates the microtransactions & you have a full moveset by default. It's still trash though. They should've just reskinned Combatribes & called that DD2.

As much as I try to see the positive side of every game I play, my recommendation here? Set fire to the Genesis cart. Inhaling the toxic fumes will be far more pleasant than playing this scrapheap.

Now I'm curious. Is there a version of Double Dragon 3 that is any good? The Arcade version was a horribly overly monetized experience that no doubt started the whole microtransactions thing. The SEGA Genesis (and you could say Gameboy too since it is also based on the arcade game) game was a bit of an improvement given how you no longer needed to spend real coins for the store, but it was still a frustratingly broken and unforgiving mess, plus I won't lie, the graphics and animation look pretty terrible especially when we compare it to other popular games of that genre that released on the same console. I'd name them, but I'm sure everyone knows already. The NES game can be argued that it is the lesser evil among the DD3 versions given how it completely ditches the store thing and it's kind of its own game rather than a port of the arcade game. However, that doesn't make it any good on its own. It still has problems such as the ridiculously frustrating difficulty, and the obvious fact that you only get one life. If anything, it's just simply better than the arcade original, but only because the arcade game already sucked and was at a very low standard, so the NES game on its own, especially if we were to compare it to the previous two games, it wouldn't be that impressive. So my question now is: "Is Double Dragon 3, let alone any version of Double Dragon 3, any good?"

The hitboxes are crazy. Nearly all attacks only hit one enemy at a time, that includes the special that's supposed to hit multiple at time.

6:18 The boss of stage 2 was protrayed as Bruce Lee in arcade version. For the NES version, this boss was portrayed as Samo Hung. It looks like because there is limit of 8 bit graphic.

Holy balls, from the thumbnail, I thought it was a bootleg of E.T. Blech. Ass of a game, though. I remember renting this, playing it for like 10 minutes, then never touching it again. I had Haunting Starring Poulterguy rented as well. Playing that one was a no-brainer.

Ahh, I remember this game. I rented it from a Blockbuster out of curiosity. I sorta-kinda regret it, though it wasn't the worst one I've ever played. It's been several years! One thing I discovered as I played the game is that when you walk in diagonally when fighting enemies, you get better chances of hitting them with your attacks than just doing it on a straight line. The hit detection was suspect at best, so I found that little quirk that made the game more tolerable for me to play and finish it. Also, Down + B is your best friend. Ahh, yes. I remember the room with the gray gladiator with the cheap-ass spike discus as I fought him. Total pain in the ass that was. And I don't remember mummies becoming so fat! At least there is a bit of credit for this game. They didn't go for the hackneyed Princess Noiram route, sticking to the arcade instead. :P

Only thing you can give to it is the graphics are very close to the arcade version. That's not saying much, given the arcade game is the black sheep of the Double Dragon family. At least characters from it got to come back in Double Dragon 4 as unlockables.

This game would be a near perfect conversion if they didn't jank up the combat. Arcade version gave you a 2 hit combo that made it easier to knock down enemies. Genesis version seems to eliminate that.

Pay to Win, huh? This Double Dragon 3 port is on a Sega Genesis......so anyone with even a smattering of education will know that the "Pay to Win" method doesn't work here (and the hit detection and other stuff makes it worse). The Pay to Win method MIGHT be acceptable in the arcade (maybe), but it doesn't work anywhere outside of the arcade. I would call Double Dragon 3 (arcade) the first Physical DLC, since you have to buy stuff (using coins from your piggy bank, presumably) and Double Dragon 3 (arcade) is NOT over the internet. The Pay to Win method is probably at least part of the reason why EA gets some hate from fans and gamers alike (that and the way EA does it). (I'm sure that there are other developers who do that at least as bad as EA or worse than EA). I don't mind actually buying EXTRA stuff (you know, like extra stages, extra weapons, stuff like that) from the game (like how Mega Man 10 does it). When you have to buy HALF THE GAME (or worse), that's when developers get hate from fans and gamers (because that's just cheap and you expect a full game to begin with). Let me reiterate...…I don't mind buying DIGITAL DLC if it's just extra stuff (like Mega Man 10's extra (special) stages and weapons). However, I DO MIND buying DIGITAL DLC if half the game is locked behind a paywall (or, in some cases, worse), because like I said, YOU EXPECT A FULL GAME TO BEGIN WITH. That's when developers seriously need to look at other options and quit with locking at least 50% of the game behind a paywall. Not everybody's going to try and pay to unlock the other 50% or so of the game behind a paywall.

The adventures of Bimmy and Jimmy continue!! Ugh, this whole game is as ugly as the old fortune teller! ...At least the Weapons Shop lady is kind of cute, and the final level in Egypt is super-creepy with headless mummies and giant hands reaching out of the ground!! Plus the final battle with the original Egyptian hotness herself Cleopatra is kind of cool, kind of boring, but it takes place in space. See, there CAN be *some* redeeming qualities in any game!!
