Double-Entry Accounting in Microsoft Access

In this Microsoft Access tutorial I'm going to teach you how to track double-entry accounting records in your database. We'll talk about what double-entry accounting is, why you use it, and I'll show you how to properly store this information in your Microsoft Access database.

It's very helpful. Thank you. How would I track transactions using double-entry accounting in multiple accounts? For example if I pay my Discover Card can I put a credit on that account and have a debit show up for my checking account?

Yes, this is a reposted video. In my original, I erroneously said that if you purchase $1000 worth of inventory with cash that you would CREDIT the inventory account and DEBIT the cash account. This is backwards. Lots of you pointed out my mistake. I appreciate that. I edited and reposted the video to prevent anyone else from being confused in the future.

i created a double entry accounting database where each transaction was entered once but specifying for each a debit account and a credit account. It worked well.

Hi Richard Rost I am an ERP Consultant (Microsoft Dynamics), there is a table Chart Of Account and that each particular account is linked to a Customer Account / Supplier Account. I have Chart Of Account Customers Domestic that is linked to All the Customers who are my Domestic and in the same way to Suppliers While Posting an Invoice when I select any Domestic Customer program automatically updates Customer Ledger Entry and also in Ledger Entry (for Chart of Account) I am unable to find that Video, can you please help me how to do that I have taken Subscription Regards Hyderabad, India Kindly provide your mail Id I will be putting directly mail to you with Mail Id.
