hey Chris the Vanquish rear end is definitely the best mod when I installed my beveled gears I had to grind the back of the pinion down to compensate for the "no shims required" my vanquish Axial wouldn't turn after I tightened the differental bearing carrier . I'm running the D Hawk bulkhead up front and Boca bearing Green Seal throughout the vehicle . I'm loving my Dhawk 2 speed and for once I can bash this beast and come home smiling!!! The beveled cut gears are a fault design causing XL heads serious problems!! I went through 3 axels and 3 bulkheads till I figured it out ... maybe you can connect to the community about this issue when you face it... The stock "plastic" has enough give but the Vanquish makes it obvious!! good luck homie!! keep up the awesome work !!

Very innovative build, expensive, but who cares I didn't pay for it!!! Keep it up very unique rig. Cant wait to see how it performs, you have now a electronic manual function "Quattro" drive, search out you can use those thumb switches to add/subtract in various increments the "drive" control of the front/rear. ie In a tight track situation I would overspin the front to get more "turn". I love my XR10, you have a 1/5 scale one!!! haha Subscribed.
@hemistormrc9 жыл бұрын

I am planning a similar drive train on an X0-1. I have one concern with your battery setup: I usually run savox servos, which can draw enough power to brown out the esc (my sidewinder equipped car would stop moving at full lock if epa was not set perfectly). this means that the esc whose bec is being used is going to draw its battery down faster. Running pairs of batteries in series to create a pair of 6s then putting them in parallel would prevent one set of batteries draining faster.
@hemistormrc9 жыл бұрын
I considered it, but if one battery goes flat there is no way of telling, plus the looms would have been even more complicated. I will try it as is first, but I have high hopes to be honest. Good input though, let me know how you get along with yours!

Awesome build! Wondering though - wouldn't the steering servo use much more power than the RX and fans combined? Also thinking, a flight radio with mixers would do that system good. At least you could make it FWD or RWD and mix the second ESC to for example a knob. Or to the elevator control. Ideal would be a mix that gives 100/100 at center stick, and then when say pushing the elevator forward (same stick as steering) the car would be more RWD and oversteer (lowering the EXPO rate for the rear ESC). And vice versa. In your mind it would be like pushing the elevator forward for more "wight" in front and backward for more "weight" in the back :P Wuld brobably be quite easy to master. Not sure if that is possible though. It would have to be like using EXPO mix and then have it to give 100% at center stick. I guess it would probably just give 50 EXPO to booth throttle channels on center stick though :/ Not sure how advanced the better radios are. I only have a DX6i :P
@hemistormrc9 жыл бұрын
+Roger Skagerström Hi Roger! All true, but I really do not like to steer a car with a stick radio. The options would indeed be far superior! Perhaps a more advanced pistol grip radio will join the fleet in the future, I have been looking at the futaba 4pxr and really like what I see!

Wait wait, please, could you explain one more time - the front esc power steering servo and receiver. So it`s not exact amount of power. The front ESC would will drain different amount of power from the batteries and the second esc will work properly even with the 2 blowers. So how did u solve the problem with the esc where is hooked up the servo and receiver? Any bec installed?
@hemistormrc8 жыл бұрын
The internal BEC on the X is actually a very reliable one. With lights added, there is a pretty even power draw in both setups. Using the Castle Link I've been able to read out RPM's on both motors and fine tuned it to as close of a match as I could. I hope this helps!

One more question...how did you do the maths about the battery? I started a similar project, but can`t explain to myself about the speed of the model (and this is crutual moment for the battery boxes i made). For example - 3s powering front and 3s powering the back, is this the speed of regular 6s model?
@hemistormrc7 жыл бұрын
If you have 3S front, and 3S back, it is still considered 3S. You are after all powering each individual motor with 3 cells. I hope this helps!

@mrmitch75089 жыл бұрын
whats the benefits of this double motor and esc setup? faster? longer run times?
@hemistormrc9 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Faster, more power to shift less weight, relatively more torque, the ability to set it up for over-/underdrive, the possibility to set up dig, and no need to reengineer the drive train after stretching the chassis five inches. Run longer and run cooler and faster. All in all, lots of benefits.

+BarharborBasher I'm trying with the updated Axial gears up front first to see how that goes. The Vanquish axle is on the car, and I dare say it is the best upgrade you can buy for this vehicle.
