Event where they can no longer hear our “thank you” and gratefulness towards them. Regrets prolly because we don’t have the capability yet of returning the favor (though they never ask for it). Regrets prolly because we are far from them and this pandemic is hindering us of being with them or for any reason. Normally our parents (MaPa) would not share how hard life is, they would not tell us how tight things are. They would always keep inside them the struggles they are facing and normally they will always show their happy face for us not to worry. First part of the song, Justin talks about how our parents (MaPa) prioritize us in all aspects. In the Filipino culture, remember the day when you as a kid cries asking for a balloon and our parent would graciously get some coins and buy one for you. That moment we can only see the our happiness for getting what we simply want, but we cannot see their smile because we are happy with a simple thing. Josh’s part where he heed the memories and advise his (a) father gave him. That even though they are not together he promised of keeping them. Josh - Never met his dad. Singing his Papa part. Creating a memory that does not exist. Became independent from her mom during his highschool days. Ken - Both parents are Overseas Filipino Workers. A seedling sprouting beneath the paper boat that becomes a flower. Is a depiction of the child growing throughout the journey with Our parent’s guide. They are our eyes and feet when we are young. Josh (who sings the first part of the second verse) didn't met his father because he left them ,yet his part in the song is all about his dad, he said in the showcase that he wants to sing this song to his father thats why he was so passionate and looking at the camera , hoping that his father might hear it. The second part of the verse was sung by ken who met his father a few times only. Its so sad that they sang this and made the song more powerful. i think it was explicitly shown through the ENG CC what MAPA meant. MAPA -> Ma,Pa -> Mama, Papa -> Mom, Dad The guy on the left got it right. The parents (Ma,Pa) are the MAPA (Map) that guides their children. Lataratara is a song vocable but is an uncommon one. This is also a common lullaby sang by the parents to their children. When you talked about the more forceful emotion on Josh's vocals (the one who began singing about Papa), I am reminded about the irony of him singing that part because he grew up without a father (practically raised himself). I was also quite surprised by his performance here, because he's usually rapping.

It's very Filipino where the kids become the breadwinner of the family and taking on the financial burden and taking care of their parents when they grow old. It sounds sweet and toxic at the same time but in the Philippines where almost everyone is living paycheck to paycheck, parents don't usually has retirement plans so the kids take on the torch somehow and gives back to the family and to the parents. It's rather sad really,, that you get caught up takin on that responsibility and forgetting to live your own life and plan ahead, and the cycle continues.

La Tara means unladen weight or empty weight. I guess it reflects the line, "Ako na" which literally translates to "Let me" but it the context of the song, it means "Let me carry the burden/worries/weight now for you".
