I will contact the Pennsylvania Game Commission if you're in Pennsylvania. And tell them what happened. Let them know about it. It's a dear red into the fence. Maybe they'll let you keep it since you, since you reported it.

It was treated as a road kill …already processed and in freezer. Definitely wasn’t gonna let it go to waist!!!

That’s a first !!!! I’d definitely get ahold of the game warden. Maybe they’ll give you a salvage tag , if that is possible. I used to hunt near St Helen Mi for ruffed grouse. Had one that my setter had pinned down near a two track road , when moved in for the flush it flew straight into an old wire fence killing it. Never fired a shot.

Great question!!! Yes we did get permission to retrieve our deer from posted property while crossing a road with an unloaded hunting rifle!!!

You can cross a road with a loaded weapon, dummy. U can also shoot across a road
