According to the Minecraft Wiki, mobs will take 2 hearts of damage every second while drowning. Mobs will also move up a water column at a rate of 2 blocks a second. So while drowning, a mob will lose 1 heart for each block it moves up. An ancient city will be around -50 while Scars base is at around 150, which means, given it will not take drowning damage immediately, the Warden would have likely taken 175+ hearts of damage before surfacing. The Warden has 250 hearts (500 health), which means it lost at least 70% of its health before surfacing. Considering it was attacked a couple times last week and took some fall damage when it fell in the canyon, the fact that it was pulled so far out of the water and fell pretty far was probably enough to take out the remaining 30ish percent.

Things don’t drown in bubble columns. It’s coded that those give back air bubbles and the water stream up to it seems to have had no place for the Warden to drown at all.

The Warden must have been severely weakened by drowning during floating up from the Deep Dark. The fall damage needed to kill them usually is an incredible height when at full health (319 blocks onto dripstone). 🤔

@@jjwang7597 yeah lol, If I recall correctly, fall damage is calculated by subtracting 3 (I think?) from the amount of blocks fallen. The resulting amount will be the amount of damage taken (in hitpoints, not hearts). So tho there is a terminal velocity for falling speed, fall damage will keep increasing

Throw some signs in the Warden water elevator, so that the water makes a snake-like pattern. Part of the reason the first Warden died so easily was that it took a ton of drowning damage

Why not even the playing field?
