Thank you for this detailed video! Very helpful and encouraging in a way. Gave better detail at normal pain/healing progression than most videos I've seen! I'm 32 and just diagnosed with grade 1 IDC. Having a double mastectomy next Thursday (had the option to do lumpectomy instead) but just going flat. I've heard the recovery is also a bit easier with flat closure. Guess I'll be going from a Corolla to....a bicycle 😂. Praying that my lymph nodes are negative in the pathology results!

It is interesting to hear the different approaches to breast cancer treatment. I have the same diagnosis and it is the gene testing that will determine the type of surgery. If it's lumpectomy I will have radiation. They will gene test the tumor as well and that determines if I need chemo after. Meeting with the surgeon next week.

Hi Monika! I agree 100% that the treatment options vary so widely! I was given the option of lumpectomy but went with double mastectomy. It was the right choice for me. Everyone is different & I’m really glad there are multiple options for ppl. I’ll be praying for you 💕

Thank you for these videos! I was recently diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer will have a single mastectomy soon. How are you doing today? I also work out at the gym a few times a week and am very healthy. I’m a little older 43 but because I’m so healthy relate to your story more.

Thank you so much for this video. My bilateral mastectomy is this coming Wednesday January 11, and I can honestly say, and I watched other videos, but yours is the best one so far. I learned so much from it. You speak “ the language” 😊 I am 39 years old, I have an amazing husband and 3 wonderful kids. Both of my parents passed away from cancer, my mom when I was just 5 years old, and my dad when I was 25. Exactly a year ago(January 2022) my older sister went trough breast cancer. She had the lumpectomy followed by radiation, and Thank God she’s doing ok now. My genetics test, and they tested me for all 36 of them came back negative. I love your attitude and your strong faith in God going through all of this. You are one amazing woman! Thank you and God Bless you! (I apologize for any spelling mistakes. English is my second language)

your videos are so helpful, I was recently diagnosed and will be having a DMX, how was your experience with expanders? Were they very painful?

I’m so sorry you’re going thru this but just know that you will get thru it 💕 They are not the most comfortable things in the world. But totally worth it IMO. When they fill them, depending on how much they add each session, you may feel pressure on your chest. When they added a lot to mine, I felt aches in my back. But it only lasted a couple of days then went back to normal. The muscle relaxers & Tylenol/naproxen really helped!! I couldn’t sleep on my side for the first month b/c it felt so strange & wasn’t comfortable at all. Thankfully that subsided. The expanders are also hard … to me they felt like softballs in my chest. Again, I think they were totally worth it. I love my new boobs!!

@@breastcancerjourney.dr_colburt I am in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The area is limited for top-notch doctors. I am thinking of doing a Goldilocks double mastectomy or just flat closure and with nerve and skin sparing. I want a one-and-done surgery to avoid multiple reconstructions. I also don't want implants. Anyway, I also have. lymph node involved on the right. It seems not a lot of doctors seem to know how to do the Goldilocks procedure yet. I may have to travel to find better care. I will maybe need somewhere to stay too so I appreciate any recommendations like this. Thank you so much for all you do in sharing here. It is very helpful.
