I'm not completely sold on matte finish in general, but I do agree that these look much better in matte. They do have that cat-eye finish! Now I'm wondering what it would look like if you used cat eye gel instead of the ombres, and reversed the magnetic angle for the nail bed vs the free edge. 🤔💜

I think that would look sharp! Or as a similar idea: do what Natalie is doing but ombre using two colors of cat eye gels - or even one color as it comes from the bottle, and that color mixed with a little white, and holding the magnet near the edges, giving the frame effect. Or holding the magnet straight vertically in the middle. Then it would look like a subtle color change with a lighted stripe dancing back and forth as you moved your hands.

im loving the matte finish on these it makes it look like the nail bed is dipped in or that the tip is domed outwards! shiny looks pretty as well but if you're doing it for the 3d effect you've definitely gotta go for the matte top coat. I think it's because where the light reflects off of a shiny top coat it interferes with the optical illusion! x

I am almost always in the Matte camp, and definitely for these. I suspect that what you were having a bit of issue verbalizing is that the ones with a greater light to dark contrast came out better with this technique. I suspect that if you try a greater color difference like a light spring yellow and a dark green or if the pink and lavender had a darker purple for a greater contrast it would also have a better result.

I absolutely love these nails the effect is so beautiful. And my personal opinion you have to do those with a matte finish because it doesn't really show the detail with a glossy top coat. Thank you so much for demonstrating this I was dying to see how it was done because I've been seeing it all over myself and I was dying to find out how to do it.
