I don’t know about the Europeans but in America, there is something called a bible cyst. It’s called that because a bible was most commonly used to burst it. And not a good way to do it. Almost guaranteed to return and or cause additional injury. If you catch them early you can have a doc drain them with a syringe, but typically they can be left alone and they will self limit or aelf resolve or if not they will need to be surgically removed. Smashing them can damage the joint especially if they are encapsulating any of tarsals or if they are lodged between tarsals or if they are formed around a tendon or if they fragment and damage a vein. I realize that for many many years smashing them was the state of the art treatment. I had one that grew to the point that it was affecting my dexterity and causing pain. Had a doc try to drain it but it was totally solid. A few years later i had it removed. That was amazing. It was total change from my mobility before and after. I has come back two of three times and self resolved each time.
