TWO things! first, yeah KZbin buggered up notifications again and sent the old video name and not the changed name to some notifications.. so yeah, build test best test! Secondly, the start is talking about the fact that I wanted to build some structures underneath the sky base in case it does hit the ground with the weirdness covered in the video as allied techs don't cause collision damage, but I forgot to mention that again in this third attempt at the video!

Micael García - It's because I wanted to try out this type of build mostly, but also Better Future does not have access to any true 360 long range weapons and I wanted to keep on theme. Because the most efficient is rarely the most fun! :)

Or a servo block that can rotate (servo keybinds for x/y, x/z, and y/z planes would of course be added to control schemes) so you can have a tech rotate a certain part of itself and still be one tech. That would be nice.

@Lathland so after quite some testing I found what I think is the best way to make a turret on top of another tech, it uses the same thing seen at 18:22 with the lights anchors and cannon, but on the turret base I put the axis shotgun on HE small brackets (to keep point of turning inside turret above center of mass. really helps keeping turret from flying away), made the blocks on the turret base around the shotgun BF face blank blocks to make a smooth ring around where the turret will rotate, then for the turret itself you attach a ring of HE small skids around where the shotgun will sit, the skis will slide on the BF face blank blocks (this eliminates the spazzy jitters when turning while at the same time not allowing turret its own movement like wheels would). you will want to keep the turret somewhat light to keep the shotgun from glitching out of place though, if turret is way too heavy it wont rotate with the shotgun very well. only use as many active gyros as you need in the turret to keep it stable if you're building a mobile MT, and avoid passive gyros entirely. if your turret is getting knocked off when firing cannons, rework guns so that the knockback from firing pushes directly backward, not pushing the guns up or down. any turrets made by giving the turret its own movement wil not work as the AI just simply wont aim at enemies, it turns a lot like it doesn't know what to do, kind of upsetting because I wanted to be able to make a pole coming up from the base thru the turret and make a plate on top so the turret can't fly off, but since you have to use the axis shotgun method that won't work. so yeah just keep the turret light and its center of mass below the shotgun. I hope this helps you and everyone else make some really cool techs!

With the concave BF blocks you can use them around a cannon turrets barrel to anchor the turret tech around it whilst still allowing the cannon to fire if you leave the end exposed.

Hmm. I've never had sky anchored stuff fly off though I do remember seeing resources on the ground(which would imply it was happening). I don't use antigravity in my stuff though. Hawkeye fortress hovers are the best.

It's certainly a neat thing, especially as it's a thing the game wasn't really intended to allow, and it's always neat seeing people push the boundaries of what can be done... but if you're talking about static defences, I can't help but think that you'd get the same effect more reliably by having a normal turret using a rotating anchor, and a second tech that just has a hole in the middle.

Conveyor belts are great near-half blocks you can use for future reference. Also, I wonder if better future blocks with sides lacking connection points slide easier against one another than studded ones.

Someday they'll probably add a "turret" block that will just spin to point at targets while having an attachment point. I'm guessing we don't have one because there are currently technical issues that prevent attaching blocks to anything that spins other than an anchor.

I use an straight bumper block, and a weapon block with a hit block that over hangs the attachment block. then you build under the the overhang, to lock the turret in place to the constructed turret.

I might recommend using a megaton cannon, I made a two tech tank were the base had a megaton cannon and then the second tech had a battle ship cannon. The megaton cannon works because it does not snap into place. Edit: I mean that the cannon does not snap and glitch the turret.

Try putting some of the strip lights on the top of the hole of the turret where the shotgun goes to relive some of the shaking. I think it is caused by the top and bottom rubbing together.

'Experimental' is the main part there, this is for the campaign in which my rule is not to purchase any item and so far I've had only one or two bearing parts from drops, since they are still experimental they are both very prone to glitching out which they do constantly but also I can't craft. :P

a big problem with those turrets is there are no armor plates where the turret touches the base. the attach points make the turret jump up and down when it rotates and makes it generally more difficult to deal with. armor plates are nice and smooth so they slide easily.

The way I've done my defense turrets is just have a single floating blob (sky anchor to maximum tether height) with weapons aiming in all directions (and by weapons I mean cruise missiles)
