I've been playing for nearly 40 years and I STILL learn something new everytime i watch Daric. The minute you stop learning, you stop improving! This man is not only a master bassist, but a pretty thorough educator!! And it's clearly no secret he loves what he does. No matter your style, keep learning. Continual learning leads to continual earning!

You are a very creative musician. Very good, very good, very good. I'm from Brazil, and we have great bass players, but I like music, so where there's a brother who does real music, I'll listen to him. Congratulations!

Even without the left hand note muting technique, 7:12 it still seems to have major useful musical properties involved! Great stuff!

I actually just got inspired to try out this new technique by one of my favorite gospel bassist Thaddeus Johnson who uses it all the time. I went searching through KZbin for the right tutorial to get me started and this is the one. Liked, added to favorites, and subscribed my friend. 👍

I just found your channel, and I am glad I did. Great job breaking down this technique. I'm a rock/metal bassist, but I love hip hop and funk and I try to bring that influence over to rock music. Slap funk hip metal hop bass. Thanks for your videos man. I have much to learn from you sir.

it took me years to get to a level on this technique with is much slower than what it is on the video. Still, the time you invest on this technique is good invested, it gives a unique sound and feel. For me it is better than the classic pop-slap

As a novice I am getting a TON of unintended harmonics by hanging out on the 5th fret. Any suggestions on how to eliminate that? (Been doing these exercises on the 10th fret until I get them clean)

If the thumb starts sneaking up onto the fretboard, (which I find myself doing sometimes when practicing this technique) do you consider that usable?
@davidtidwell79875 жыл бұрын
Yes also you can buy something like a string ramp to install between the pickups. Gives you something to bounce off same as your fretboard does.
@gupta__g4 жыл бұрын
Hey, Just one question When i slap my thumb i usually above the last few frets, and when i move my thumb a little towards the bridge to incorporate the upstroke, the bounce that i get usually from my downstroke reduces. How do i not let that happen. great lesson by the way.
