Honestly, it took more time than I guessed to people start having success with double top. When I see riot new changes, and them talking about reducing jungle agency in the game I knew it wouldn't take long for people to try the dota meta. Where you have 2 double lanes and solo mid, and jungle camps gets farmed by whoever needs the gold and have enough tempo to do it.

in season one a player had to roam from top to bottom we had paths like today jg does until some guy called madlife picked tresh sticking with a ranged teammate and became meta. nowadays top is the lane with most xp and gold for meeles so yeah is kinda thebausffs big brain strategy, gather more resources than the other team even if it is troll and your bot got destroyed. might only work with some champs as yi carry more than a sup but if the other team play along switching lanes it will be crazy off meta.

Now, the blame for the falls completely on the game Devs. Like the video stated, this is a result of them nerfing Jungle. Honestly very good strategy by abusing Yi q. The q resets turret agro and since you shove every wave, the opponent is isolated causing huge damage with e - q. This however won’t work against all top champs. 1. Those with heavy early cc (jax e, poppy e) 2. Those that are super tanky early game (include zac and sion cuz of his passive, sion dies but can get gold, xp and kill in return, malphite) and 3. Champs that can proxy the first waves (rammus, singed). This strategy basically requires you to get that first dive (levels 1-2) perfectly since if one dies on the first dive or you fail to kill on the first dive, you can’t continuously dive and snowball. Since you have no jungle, you lose priority on objectives without snowballing.

Riot made a mistake creating systems to counter funneling in the past. The thing is, the game is ideally played with a carry in the jungle able to affect the whole map and be at objectives. They needed to rework master yi and let the meta change. Instead they have gutted the gold and exp from jungle in order to force a bad meta on the game. They will break this too somehow in order to keep a duo botlane and cause massive problems in the community because people are frustrated.

When farming jungle camps was so bad 4 months ago and junglers realized they should just gank, people got super frustrated and said jungle is too OP, then riot nerfs lane xp sharing for junglers and expect junglers to still deal with this role. The average jungle experience is after 10 minutes you are 2 levels behind, 300 gold behind, and you cant even do any objectives without your teamates doing something. You need every gank to work out to even be even with a solo laner.

A possible counter I have thought for this strategy is sion. With his passive, you can start w and even if they can kill you under tower, you still get minions under tower after death. Then you can build tank, by going something like tabis, which would greatly reduce dmg from yi. Otherwise, you would still get something like chainmail before tping back. Maybe going for warden's mail later. Then it would be very difficult to dive you. You could also have a jungler come lvl 2 (though very diffuclt in soloQ) and counter gank after they get lvl 2 from buff. Preferably a strong jungler for this such as quinn or elise. With your jungler and you verus the enemy two lvl 1 champs. You should be able to not get dived on the first wave.

Maybe this kind of strategy is being good on regular servers as well. I played a game on this Patch 13.14 (regular server) in which a supposed enemy Sylas JG (Flash + Ignite) did a complete Jungle Diff against our regular Jungler at least until Mid Game. Basically, a Sylas "JG" and Pantheon MID kept inverting between 2x1 Top Lane and 2x1 Mid Lane, besides Ganking (I was SUP). They mostly dominated the objectives until somewhere Mid Game; but without Smite, in the end we were able to come back and secure Victory (probably because of Compositions and patience); Sylas does not necessarily scales as well as Master Yi I guess. I don't know if it was a Spell mistake or on purpose, but whatever it was, the fact is that it proved to be quite impactful in some way, even if not a Master Yi doing exactly the same steps you do. Thanks for 'breaking the rules' and showing how unbalanced the game is! Riot says they want Unbalance: fun before logic. So show them some real FUN that works! 😹Like Janna Top with Smite.

Sprint to side lanes and put a deep ward in lane brush to spot him out and ask your JG to start on the side Yi/Ign JG intends on cheesing. I watch this guy on a chinese platform, the strat usually goes like this: Sylas + Master Yi, there's burst and control on sylas, continous damage on yi, both have self sustain with their W Both buy support items so damaging the opponent top laner or attacking the tower gets 60 gold Master Yi usually eats the minions, unless he has the penalty from the support item, then Sylas eats Master Yi usually has Hail of blades as main rune for the burst early game, both bring ignite They usually ban Jax and Shen for their ability to block basic attacks and make them not very divable lv1 lv1: see if can take enemy top by surprise get their health low, if not, shove wave and wait till both gets to lv2 lv2: sylas and master yi dives the opponent lv1 top, master yi first takes tower aggro, then gets out with Q invincibility, if opponent top TP back, just kill them again lv3: Jungler is probably getting around, so both set up wards to see where the jungler might be coming from, they either base or trade 1 person with opponent top so they are valuable again lv4 - first tower: Opponent top can't resist so they just push tower, their usually get this tower by 6 minutes into the game, by now enemy top is basically useless with no gold and exp. first tower - second tower: Probably both have their first item now, so they just go bot and see if they can kill the bot laners, if not they just push tower, again bot can't resist as well, if enemy mid and jug comes they are glad to trade heads. Afterwards: They are up by like 2 complete items and the enemies just can't resist, so yeah You might wonder why this is viable, cuz jungler gets 4 camps shouldnt they be hella strong, problem is top is getting harrassed and they probably will call jungler, if they ignore and just dive into killing camps, the camps are thicc, does tons of damage, and gets little reward, they won't be in the position to gank anyone, and top's tower is gone. If they do go help, 2v2 they have double ignite, support item bonus stats, while jug only has the egg that brings 0 stats for combat, and there's a useless top with no cs.

This strategy should be easy to shut down, especially if you know it's coming straight from loading screen: 1. Jungler should start clearing only top for first levels and clear the camps if a way he can rotate for your tower level 2 (be on krugs or gromp depending on side). 2. Top should only try to stay in exp range, retreat to tower if not possible. 3. If they crash wave 2, jungler moves towards top tower to prevent dive. 4. If initial dive doesn't happen, jungler starts vertically jungling on top side to be ready to clean up any attempted dives.

If the enemy team is smart and play slow, they can just get every obj easily and outscale dpeending on their comp. I've been trying double top with smite ever since season 14 items hit the PBE. The main problem is that the enemy top laner and enemy jungler will be ahead of both of you in levels. You lose fights easily due to being underleveled. The most success I had was a Ziggs top and Ivern top with smite. The strategy was to steal jungle camps and break the enemy top tower as fast as possible.

I don't believe this is in any way viable once this strat is known. I would imagine there are so many strats to counter this and once top laner is somewhat stable the game is basically over. Every other lane will win on average because no jungle pressure. Literally no objective control. It is just an early game cheese strat that loses you the game if it doesn't work out.

I watch this guy on a chinese platform, the strat usually goes like this: Sylas + Master Yi, there's burst and control on sylas, continous damage on yi, both have self sustain with their W Both buy support items so damaging the opponent top laner or attacking the tower gets 60 gold Master Yi usually eats the minions, unless he has the penalty from the support item, then Sylas eats Master Yi usually has Hail of blades as main rune for the burst early game, both bring ignite They usually ban Jax and Shen for their ability to block basic attacks and make them not very divable lv1 lv1: see if can take enemy top by surprise get their health low, if not, shove wave and wait till both gets to lv2 lv2: sylas and master yi dives the opponent lv1 top, master yi first takes tower aggro, then gets out with Q invincibility, if opponent top TP back, just kill them again lv3: Jungler is probably getting around, so both set up wards to see where the jungler might be coming from, they either base or trade 1 person with opponent top so they are valuable again lv4 - first tower: Opponent top can't resist so they just push tower, their usually get this tower by 6 minutes into the game, by now enemy top is basically useless with no gold and exp. first tower - second tower: Probably both have their first item now, so they just go bot and see if they can kill the bot laners, if not they just push tower, again bot can't resist as well, if enemy mid and jug comes they are glad to trade heads. Afterwards: They are up by like 2 complete items and the enemies just can't resist, so yeah

now this is the new "gold funnel" comp for this season? too many factors played to this. - new jungle change - map change (more symmetrical) - no more stopwatch and such this is basically pos4 in dota2 where you become a menace and stop your matchup to farm fortunately master yi is probably the only capable champ that can be mobile and has a broken tower reset mechanics (vlad with his pool of blood, but yeah, he scales and has long cd on that pool) I'm more curious how riot will answer with the next patch. either re-buff jungle again or nerf everyone else (by having another weird xp/gold change)

Finally different strategies in this game. I give it a month before riot and adc mains bitch and complain that the game is actually being different and they change it. I really like it, but I highly doubt Riot will allow this to be meta for any remarkable period of time. They seem to hate innovations like this to the meta. At some point they decided the game should always be 1 top, 1 jungle, 1 mid, and 2 bottom. It also seems like a very difficult strategy to pull off, so I don't see it have much success below masters because all of those players are too used to playing the standard way.

Yi is great since he dive and change turret agro to minions , mabye elise can work but i'm not sure if her dmg can match yi and caccon is harder to land than Yi Q

I have tried a couple of champs for the double top strat but so far only I have been successful only on Warwick, that too simply because the enemy made a mistake of having a 1v1/1v2 trade vs my champ. I guess I'll have to practice Yi to make this strat work.

I mean they basically showed this against Yone, Yasuo i believe and Trynd. It would be more impressive if he did that on Darius, Urgot, Volibear or K'sante. Champs that actually are played top. I get the strategy but I doubt you can use it every game regardless if you win or not.

If the enemy jg has a brain , its insta top invade. Majority of top lane champs can play under tower and outscale. No obj prio, helpless boy and mid, down lvls.

I think its hard to play. Well imagine this: you go duo top, but enemy has a bard roaming up and jungle coming early levels to stop you from killing top. And top knowing its double top against him, doesnt walk up like a bot, but wards the middle bush and stays in exp range. Now your bot lane needs to be a heavy poke lane right, otherwise you cant kill the enemy adc. Watching this video I got the expression of enemy watchingtop like a cuckold, meanwhile it wouldnt be so hard to counterplay "chinese super server"
