Excellent point regarding non-sprung non-return valves (also known as "check valves" here in the States), on the suction-side of a pump. Thank you for the video!

How can I test the quality of this valve and how can i measure the Kv ?

Hi plastic pipes I have recently purchased one on these ( about a month ago) spring double check valves and fitted it but it seems loose and leaking badly, what might I be doing wrong and/or do you have a video link of one being fitted, I have scoured the internet without much success? Regards Mike H.

Want to use this for a storm drain catchment to fill drum. However, I'm wondering if I'll have problem of it staying slightly open. My main aim of using it is to separate the first runoff from my stored water.
@PlasticPipeShopTV5 жыл бұрын
HI. I am not sure I fully understand your application. The valve will stay open if there is a greater water head on the flow side than the discharge side. If you are using this for a drainage application rather than a pressure one you should look to use a non-sprung one such as www.plasticpipeshop.co.uk/Inch-PVC-Full-Bore-Swing-Check-Valve_c_1156.html, as the water heads in drainage are often too low to operate the spring.

Quick question do you make a non return valve that can deal with stones muck and dead vegetation looking for something like that so I can clean up a pond .
@PlasticPipeShopTV4 жыл бұрын
Hi there. The best non return valve (NRV) for this purpose would be one of our full bore valves; see: www.plasticpipeshop.co.uk/Inch-PVC-Full-Bore-Swing-Check-Valve_c_1156.html . These are only available in inch sizes and there is no equivalent in metric, so if you were using them with metric pipe you would be best using a short piece of inch size pipe and then an www.plasticpipeshop.co.uk/EPDM-Rubber-Couplings_c_2754.html. If cemented in place in the middle of a length of pipe rather than at the end, I’d also recommend putting a union www.plasticpipeshop.co.uk/Inch-PVC-Union-EPDM-O-Ring_c_514.html either side of the NRV so it can be taken out and cleaned / serviced.

A silly question (maybe!), in a submersible pump situation with a head of (let's say) 100m, would it make sense to have 2 or 3 valves (one right after the pump and then 1 or 2 more along the head) instead of just one?
@PlasticPipeShopTV6 жыл бұрын
Hi, You should only ever need one. In some critical situations I have known people to install 2, one after the other but both should be immediately after the pump. Hope that helps.

@@PlasticPipeShopTV Thanks for getting back to me promptly. I can see the benefit in doing that. In the first couple of seconds, the RPM is still low and as the first valve opens up, the pump only feels the weight of the water column between the 2 valves ( which is not much), the second valve being still shut. That's how I imagine it anyway.

Small non returning valve is cheaper.. So can I use a reducer to a water tank so that I can use a small nin returning valve instead of big one??
@PlasticPipeShopTV4 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Yes, but be aware that using a smaller non-return valve will reduce the bore and so will reduce the flow through your pipe system.
