To Help folks, I want to share my information using Double Knit and how to determine your finished length. I used your 1/2" tool, 73' of 24 gauge fine silver wire, 6 loops and double knit. The 73' of wire gave me 15" of raw material. The following will give you the approximate length per each draw plate hole size: 1/2" hole = 17.5" , 7/16" hole = 18.5" , 3/8" hole = 20.5" , 5/16" hole = 22.5". Hope this helps!!

Very good video!! Thanks! How can I determine the finished length of the double knit chain? I am using 24 gauge fine silver wire on the 1/2" tool with 6 loops, 48 feet of wire and the chain is 9.5" long. I would like the finished chain to be drawn down using the 1/4" hole size. Your Draw Plate approximate measurement charts do not cover the Double knit.

Hello Cathy, I have not created a chart for the specific information you want on double Viking Knit draw dimensions. Sorry. The only thing I can suggest is to try your desired dimension results with an inexpensive wire first as a sample before proceeding with the silver wire. You might also try a “draw as you go” method whereby you weave several inches, maybe 5”, remove the Daizee head, then draw a portion of the weave (from the head end) down to your desired diameter - takes note to see how much 3” gives you. Don’t draw the entire length. Put the weave back on the rod and continue.

Hello! The wire gauge depends on the project. I would suggest a 24 or 26 gauge wire for double Viking Knit on this diameter tool (using half the loops). I hope this is helpful.
