Nice work, John! That will be a really handy tool for threading rods for bolts and other types of fasteners. As soon as I get a lathe and mill, your tool will be one of my first projects. Thanks again! Regards, Dave

i john, another great project, thank you for filming project videos again.I was very impressed when you proved your taper setup to be "spot on" using the dial. I really enjoy your practical approach to things and it's great to see that they are accurate.

Excellent work, good to see I am not the only one who loves playing on the lathe making tools to make things.

Nicely executed John (as usual). I like the comment about the cap screws still being there in five years.... This is on my 'to do' list...... I, too, like your dividing head....a lot. (Mine doesn't take my Myford chuck...only the collet chuck.....)

Always good to watch you working, John. And comforting to know that you use the same language up North as I do down South when things go wrong! :0)

Looks good John. And you're not the only one that has shite dies....lol

Looking good John. I like a bit more clearance in my die holders, so you can spread the die a little when making studs that need to be an interference fit. Do you have a jog button on your VFD setup? It's an ideal feature for things like die threading.
@doubleboost10 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul No I don't have a "jog" button I am sure the VFD can do it John
@ianbeswick85579 жыл бұрын
Paul Compton Yes............clearance so that the die can be opened up a bit. Glad you made this comment. So if the die holder is slightly larger in dia than the die itself then the purpose of the holder is only to keep the die square and to enable you to hold on to it...........centralising is down to the die itself . But thinking about that again..as you screw in the adjuster to open the die then that's pushing it off centre, unless an extra compensating screw was introduced 180 degree away from the opening adjuster ? So what clearance would you recommend for a one inch die say ? Thank you Ian Beswick Victoria BC

Excellent series of "how to's" Will make one of those myself. What did you use to make your dividing head?. I have just restarted machine work after many years away from it. I have a Boxford CUD but am going to convert it to a powered cross slide when I get all the parts together. Keep the videos coming as and when you can. Very inspirational.
Hi John, I was wondering if you were a Scott? I'm a McCulloch. I watch and like all your videos...
