Then they wonder why you leave. I had a job with a really toxic "acting" supervisor. Everyone, including people not in my department, knew I hated her and my job (not as a person but as a boss). I had always said to myself if she was my boss I'd quit. The day after she became my supervisor officially, I quit. Our department had six employees and four quit within two weeks. I'd say we were rats jumping from a sinking ship, except that the ship was rotten. I'd say we were survivors who took a life raft of the sinking ship. My ex-boss never understood why everyone left, the more toxic they are the more delusional.

I had a boss in the childcare industry that wouldn't do anything but watch the cameras when she got them. She brought me into her office one day to accuse me of something she said I did wrong on the cameras and wouldn't listen to my story. She eventually showed me the footage supposedly proving I was lying and IT WASNT EVEN ME lol. I hated that boss for many many sue-able reasons, but I was young and naive

It’s amazing in a bad way how people in positions of power can gaslight you and lower your self esteem to the point you start doubting yourself! That’s when you need to remind yourself you are a quality person! I had a boss say to me in a yearly evaluation “I heard you started some new medication. Your attitude seems to be getting better. What are you taking?” I so wish I had recorded her! My answer was “well since you’re so interested I started migraine medicine so I guess not being in pain all the time is a bonus.”I have other stories I could tell you about the horrors of the nursing profession. Yeah that same boss I mentioned... she told everyone that they had to keep most of our stuff in our car, but she knew I was the only one who didn't have a car. And I had rescue medications like an inhaler that she would keep locked in her office drawer. And I had to ASK her to let me take my meds and PROVE and EXPLAIN why I needed them before I was allowed access to MY RESCUE MEDS. It was the worst

Wow, I had a guy I worked for for a short time with an attitude like that. I was working on a job on the weekend, he came up n and gave me shit for it. All the tools were mine, all materials were mine. I was using his electricity, he wanted a cut of the profit. I gave him something he didn’t expect. I took everything that was mine tools and all and left. There were jobs I was doing for him, he now had to finish them himself and had to buy a shop full of tools to do so. Burn 🔥

Ugh, so many assumptions! If the salon owner was confused about something - before she got accusatory, which she had no data to support - she could just asked the stylist. Instead she got suspicious and accusatory. TBH - despite all the above behavior - she did make a lot of sense at the very end by saying next time she (or anyone, really) wants to use the salon for a photo shoot to just ask ahead of time to make sure the owner knows and to make sure the owner isn’t planning something at that same time that would interfere. There’s a way where everybody wins. Support your stylists, don’t berate them.

It's amazing how many salon owners lack any actual business acumen. My mother moved her entire clientele to a different salon halfway to two thirds of the way through her career, essentially giving the new owner a $40,000 a year raise for doing nothing, and proceeded to be petty and condescending until my mother finally left. And all of her clients, plus a few more, went with her.
