Hi. This not a comment for this performance rather it's about your slide playing on the Brauchli. You have sent me down a rabbit hole since I saw your playing of the David Lindley tune which popped up in my feed a few day ago. So I've decided to get Daniel to make me one but I need to decide between Standard or Long Scale, between Cedar or Blackwood Top and between Fixed or Floating Bridge. Your Brauchli looks like a Standard Scale, Cedar Top with a Fixed Bridge - is that right?. It certainly sounded good in your hands (in open C). I'll probably tune open D and I want that deeper, warmer tone, with plenty of sustain. Is there any advantage in going for the Long Scale as opposed to the Standard Scale? To my ear, something about the Cedar Top cut through more - I realise it is hard to judge based on the audios on Daniel's web site but you certainly do alright with the Cedar top! I'm used to floating bridges with my dobros but again the fixed bridge audio seemed to have a bit more sustain and cut through. I understand the need to have the floating bridge for particular tunings but I wouldn't be trying to string this in GBD tuning (for example) anyway. Is there anything I'm missing here? Indeed, Cedar top and standard scale. For the differences between long/short scale and fixed/floating bridge you better contact Daniel as I never played another one than mine. You're in good hands with Daniel, excellent luthier and player.
