Gibson should have a signature series with Doug...
@stefanofranco1543 жыл бұрын
they were working on a DA signature model.. it was in work in progress, I probably have a picture of the prototype somewhere.. there's no similarity to any of his other guitars, not a usual guitar he ever used before.. it was a modern guitar with killswitch buttons. If I'm correct and I remember fine, it was a Tobacco Sunburst

I got my '69 for $400 Canadian in about 1983! Also, when we went to the US festival that year in California, there was a shop in Hollywood called Voltage Guitars. They had a 1959 Flametop in mint condition for $1,100.00. Yes- one thousand, one hundred dollars. Everyone was selling their "boring" old Les Pauls and Strats to hotrod guitars like Van Halen. Unfortunately I was only 17 and didn't have $1,100, and of course had no idea what was going to happen to the value of them.

I like that Doug gravitated to the LP. He's been able to really make it "his thing". I can remember when he played a Jackson in the 80s (Hurricane) but I always think of him now with the gold top. Beyond that, I'll say it again, he 's a really great guy. I've met him a couple of times and even auditioned for one of his bands. If you ever hear his "meeting Randy Rhoads story" he went on to carry on that same mindset. Great player, great guy.
