Doug Beter and his Rainbow Pigeons Hawaii

One day in Pearl City, I was flying my white birds on a clear sunny day.
A dark cloud out of nowhere and it began to Rain…
I said oh no my birds cannot fly in the rain…
I started calling them back to get them out of the rain….
All of sudden the Rain stopped and a beautiful Rainbow appeared.
One by one the pigeons flew into the Rainbow…
Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Purple and Pink…. It was a unreal sight and that’s how I got Rainbow pigeons…
That story was told in many ways by our loved one.
We all heard it and seen the love he had for his pigeons

Good evening everyone, I am honored to be here to say few words about a man who helped shaped my Pigeon Career.
My name is CAMERON DATANAGAN, I hold many titles in the pigeon world, but my favorite one was being Uncle Doug’s sidekick, and I was known as Cousin Cam..
Rainbow pigeons performed in front of many Funerals, Weddings and Birthdays,
The Hawaii State Farm Fair, Graduations and even for the Special Olympics Hawaii.
HIs favorite event was his annual visit to Pearl City Library to visit all the elementary school kids
Uncle and his pigeons were featured on TV, Newspaper, National Magazines and of course Social media platforms like Facebook, instagram and KZbin.
Uncle Doug’s passion for pigeons was so great that the general public always had questions for him and he had all the answers..
Showing pigeons is just one aspect of raising pigeons.
Uncle Doug was also known for his Pigeon Racing
Him and his Dad had a great racing record and their bloodline was always in demand.
That was where I first met Uncle Doug. About 45 years ago,
My dad and I used to race pigeons against him.
We would often visit Uncle Doug and Mr Beter in Pearl City.
We all wanted to beat them in a race, but always had to respect them their knowledge and their commitment towards their birds.
As I travel the world promoting pigeons at Pigeon Shows and Pigeon Races, Flyers come up to me and ask about Uncle Doug and his Rainbow pigeons.
Ironically, Hawaii people still ask me about the Colorful Birds in Pearl City…
I am so happy that Uncle Doug is now flying high with his birds
Let us all keep Uncle Doug’s legacy alive by talking about his Rainbow Pigeons and his commitment to educating the children of Hawaii.
