The Nanking Massacre, also known as the Rape of Nanking, occurred in 1937 when Japanese forces captured the Chinese city of Nanking (now Nanjing). During this period, an estimated 200,000 to 300,000 Chinese civilians and surrendered soldiers were killed, and widespread atrocities such as mass executions, rape, and looting were committed by the Japanese troops over several weeks. It's considered one of the most brutal episodes of World War II.

So many school reports that I rocked it with those books. I wish I said to keep ‘em when she asked. But I only requested the D and the M and the S’s books cuz they were my favorite for some reason😂. The problem with the college kids is that they don’t know anything about the war or history of the Israeli Palestine conflict. They’re just siding with those they view as oppressed and the displaced “indigenous” people. Universities should be educating and enlightening students. How can the founding of Israel not be viewed as the displacing of one population for the benefit of another population? Initially Britain had promised that land to the people who lived there if they helped Britain defeat the Ottoman Empire. Once Britain had control they reneged on that promise. I’ll admit, I am not well versed in the entire history of the region but it seems to me that the creation of Israel has never been something the surrounding countries agreed with. Why force a nation into existence where it is not wanted? What is the end goal?

I've never wanted a crash before but I'm looking forward to this one. The primary reason is because prices are out of control in the economy and need to be reset. This is especially the case with houses and cars / trucks. I want to buy a house. I earn nominally 4.25 times the money I earned when I bought my current home. So, I want to go bigger and nicer. I can't do that now, with these prices like they are. They are starting to fall but they have a long way to go.

Dear Doug and Matt, I am in China now and have lived here for awhile, speak Chinese etc. Please read this book about how Japan EXTRACTED a lot of the gold from China/Asia, almost no one talks about this, this was 1000's of years of WEALTH that was sucked out and brought to Japan and buried in the Philippines. Now China has been rebuilding their stores of gold, you will like this book: Gold Warriors: America's Secret Recovery of Yamashita's Gold . peace from Fujian, China.
@claytonmatt4334
@claytonmatt4334 5 ай бұрын
I read that book years ago after hearing stories from people while in the Philippines that the Japanese indeed buried a bunch of gold before they surrendered the Philippines. The book provides a very interesting perspective on ww2 in Asia that just isn't mentioned in the western discourse. For example, Japan's plan was to sue for peace when their loss appeared inevitable, at which point they would repatriate all the gold they had stolen and stored in the Philippines. The US refused so the Japanese then had no choice but to bury it all. Supposedly most of it was recovered by the local govt in the 80's.
@biglance
@biglance 5 ай бұрын
VERY INTERESTING! I did not hear that part, I've been in the Philippines up in some of the areas where it was apparently buried, I have a friend whose parents were friends with Marcos and he told me when he was a kid his dad (friends with Marcos) had a big Gold Bar he brought out once...my friend played with Marcos' kids in Hawaii at their home. Here's my take on the world as it stands presently, especially here in the Western .hemisphere in particular. Every civilization centers around a 'cultus' (Latin for religion) which informs its culture, its ethical vision, and its general sense of well-being and purpose. We know that the West was by and large informed by the philosophical tradition of ancient Greece, especially with Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. Later on in history, we inherited a mystical and supernatural tradition in the shape of Christianity which also incorporated the thought of Aristotle in particular. However, pace Sam Harris, author of Letter to a Christian Nation, our civilisation can hardly claim to call itself Christian any longer. Certainly our legislators are no longer Christian and there is a good deal of animus against the Christian perspective especially with respect to sexuality, procreation and gender. As for philosophy, the academies (no longer Christian either) have fallen victim to any number of crazed postmodern ideologies whose main thrust is critical (of the past and of tradition) and deconstructive so that meaning in any text is understood as being purely subjective. This can only lead to atomization, divisiveness, uncertainty and anomie. And this is where our societies stand today such that there is a cultural divide in North America that is as deep and wide as the Grand Canyon. We appear to have replaced the Christian religion with the new religion of 'scientism.' Believe the science' went the mantra during the so-called pandemic. In spite of no human trials, the believers all lined up for the countermeasures. It could only have been an act of faith. What did anyone know about the mechanism of action, the efficacy or the safety of the new wonder medicine? What did your doctor really know or the nurse administering the shot? They spoke blandly of 'informed consent' but how many thought to ask searching or pertinent questions about the material that would shortly be injected into their vascular system? What really prepared the way for our unquestioning stupidity? How did we come to such a sorry pass? (to be continued..)

It was a show trial in The Hague after W2 where the nazis were tortured for confessions. Thise confessions were acceoted by the Judges and Lawyers for a pre judged outcome . Not that I don't think it was accurate, but it was not legal. We saw this in Guantanamo too and probably many more!
