At 1:40, don't know what that is called in regards to him skiing that fall line , but that's just amazingly balls out!! Maybe called just vertical.

I met coombs when i lived in JH. The guy was incredibly cool and laid back. Hands down he laid the track for every so called "extreme skier" out there. Funny thing was I actually got to ski with Doug and Halsey Hewson the same day. I can't believe he's gone. I'm so far removed.

let's get the history straight though... was Doug's student on belay or not? It was as ski accident. and it was/is a tragedy. Heroics? Not so sure. RIP Doug, but remember the kids that think skiing avalanches are the tits aren't like Doug was. Many more will die in the mountains because of the popluarity and promotion of "extreme" sports in America. Take that to Switerland or France or NZ... see what you can get away with there. I'll bet you'll want to bivy after climbing 3500m with boards.
