Doug Davenport on working for Rick Pitino

As a life long KY fan Rick Pitino IMO is a top 10 college basketball coach of all time. He is a better in game coach than Calipari is, although Calipari is probably the best recruiter in the history of college basketball. But Pitino man had that dog in him. And that 1996 KY won it all coached by Pitino was definitely top 5 all time. That team just dominated teams. They had that Rick Pitino swagger about them and how they pressed and attacked the rim was relentless. A lot of UK fans hate Rick Pitino because he left and went to the NBA and then went to Louisville. But not me, he will always be 1 of my favorite College basketball coaches of all time.

As a UK fan to this day I miss Pitino and even miss him at Louisville. The rivalry hasn’t been the same since he left.
