@@doug_barnard It would have been better to ask before you went because it is full of Great Activities that You missed... You did not say anything about the Planetarium Science Center... That is like VR but for like 100 people together where you look at the ceiling to see... There is the 7 projectors room as well You missed it.... and there is a lot of projects you missed I would have recommended "ALYM" to you (African League of Young Masters) which is in English of youth making presentations about stuff... I see your POV and why you say this.. But Bibliotheca Alexandrena is not a small place so you can go and walk to discover... Not at All... It is Complex enough but if you had a guide for only this place you would have been astonished.. btw I am From Alex..

I had a friend from Scotland, I met him in Hilton Dahab and I used to work there, he told me he wants to visit Alexandria and he came back with me when I took my vacation .. when we arrived to Alexandria ,he told me I don't want to visit landmarks or luxury places , I want to visit the ghettos an the poorest neighborhoods , I took him to the "Jewish Alley" haret el yahood , Karmooz, bahary and on the east side Derbala, Sidi Bishr qebly and even to El Sa3a and Kosaeii 😀.. and he stayed with me at my mother's apartment for 10 days ..after we visited all these places he told me this is the best days I spent in Egypt .. I come to Egypt every year and I'm bored of visiting tourist cities like south Sinai , hurgada and upper Egypt and stay at fancy hotels .

If you ever came back just give it another chance. All in all I’m so glad you loved the city and it’s people ♥️

18:07 the Library of Alexandria is not meant to be a tourist attraction. It's supposed to be a quiet place for students to study and do research, it's literally just the municipal public library. It is an interesting library though. It's good that you got to see it. But I agree with you, it wasn't really worth the extra stay.

@alsemany 3 жыл бұрын
@David Alexandria Library is not a good place for students. it's just a good architecture and it should have better design than that, for students and researchers the national library in Cairo is the best.. in that old building with no fantasy design but you will feel the value inside when simply you can find a lot of original versions of books, news archives and manuscripts. the second place I personally recommend Helwan Central library in the university I think it has more books than Alexandria Library

@@alsemany I am not talking about University Research here. I am talking about High School students studying. I have a few friends from Alexandria and they say that they used to go to meet and study there during their high school years.

Hi Doug, Hope you're enjoying Egypt so far 😃 Not sure if you're still in Cairo, but it will be a perfect opportunity for you to visit the new National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, which will inaugurate today its royal mummy hall, featuring the mummies of 22 of the most famous kings and queens of ancient Egypt. Just have a look, I'm sure it will be exceptional :)
