What a clear and comprehensive message. It's crucial that people understand this in order not to be deceived. My mom grew up Catholic, but became SDA after meeting my dad and having Bible studies. She said that the point that convinced her was just what you said, Pastor Doug, about Heaven not being a happy place if our loved ones are there looking down on the tragedy and grief of this world. I use the perfect example of Lazarus, as you did... If he went to Heaven, I know we would have heard about it!

As it says in Heb. 12:2 "Looking away unto Jesus the author and perfector of our faith, the One who set the joy and endure the cross and dispise the shame and sat down on the throne of God. That Christ as the resurrection power of God which is the power of the Holy Spirit who is the One who overcomes all false spirits which belong to Satan. That we are able to discern false spirits especially angelic spirits of Satan and his angels who try and make people deny Christ's incarnation human living crucifixion and resurrection that is He uplifted His humanity into divinity to make God and man One. So the more we keep our eyes on the Lord and abide in Him we shall not go astray.

I was a superstitious child growing up. I heard sounds that I attributed to otherworldly experiences. Heavy distinct workboots walking around on our tiled floors at night despite everyone being asleep, banging and creaking. We had a glass fan that even after being physically cut from power, would spin and turn on by itself. Our remote was broken, so it couldn’t be turned on either. It bugged me, we used to be mildly freaked out about it; but I always never said anything because I felt to acknowledge was to confirm this spirit or thing, and give it more power. My mother mentioned it to my aunt, and she suggested we have a seance and “talk to it”. I refused and begged her to leave it alone. I didn’t grow up with any faith or leaning, yet I knew in my heart that messing with these things was opening doors best left closed.

Our father sent us young girls to look for our donkeys because he needed them to get ready to go to his farm that was very far away. Something happened when my sister pointed out the floating long crinoline dress to me. There was no head nor feet. We ran non stop to the main road. Big stones was thrown out of a big tree full of thorns at us. We stopped under the street light because we were tired from running. Non of the stones caught us. We did not stop running until we reached home. We told our parents what had happened to us. They never sent us out early morning again. God said I’m His word” He will give His angels charge over us; The angels of the Lord encamp around us.”

The last tombstone that Pastor Doug mentions I've seen on a friend's brother's tombstone that he wanted is similar but a bit different. Pastor Doug, I found the real truth while watching It is Written. I responded to an invitation to have someone come to my home to have private Bible Study with me. After 10 months of Bible Study in my home, I visited my first SDA church, found a church HOME at last! It has been almost 14 years now. YOU are preaching the truth, and I know these things to be true. I have seen, what people call a ghost. It was NOT a ghost, but an evil spirit. I called on Jesus to banish it, and it never returned. I also experienced a vision during a near death experience at age 15. I was shown things that would later come true in my life. One of those things was finding the church I now attend as an adult. One of those statements made to me, was this: "Jesus said to me, you will get up and be well, as you have more to do for me. When it is time, I will come for you." I never understood this statement, about coming for me. I did not understand, until I met the people from It is Written. I finally understood the truth about the state of the dead, and what happens to us when we die. Then I understood the Resurrection of the the saved at the second coming! Then I finally understood the statement Jesus made to me when I was in a blacked out period of time on the beach dying from hypothermia. He meant that at the Second Coming, whether I am alive or dead, HE will come for me at that time! Not that I go to heave to see HIM, but that HE resurrects me and comes for ME. Then I knew that my experiences and all the things I was shown was of of God, because why would the Devil show me these things? After reading Ellen White's story, I knew I was one of the few fortunate, who had experienced a true vision. Praise Jesus! I was raised in a Christian home, of many different denominations. Today, my Dad is now going to the same church with me, and rejoices at finally knowing the truth, as does my sister. Re: Salem Witch trials. I studied this historical event as it shaped how our Forefathers wrote the US Constitution regarding religion. It was required back in the 1600's during this time, that all people who wanted to be in government positions of any kind, to be either a Quaker or a Puritan. They must pass some kind of religious test. If their parish did not pass them, they could not serve in any type of government office. Also anyone could accuse a person of witchcraft without any physical proof, other than "spectral evidence." This means that the courts of that day, allowed victims to quote "ghosts and spirits" that were allegedly speaking to them, to give testimony to the court. This "spectral evidence" was used to convict those who were later hanged by the neck, and in one case pressed to death. Many others, including children and a baby, were imprisoned based on this "spectral evidence," and tortured physically into giving false confessions. If you read the "Federalist Papers" it explains then that our Forefathers never meant for there to be a separation of church and state in that people who are believers cannot serve government or pray or express their beliefs while in office. Rather it is ONE way, in that the GOVERNMENT cannot dictate to the people at any time, nor restrict their beliefs, or prayers in public or private places. Did our forefathers pray in office? YES they did. Where there prayers in school and public places? YES, because it was a protected right under the Constitution. Today our courts have misinterpreted those rights and have whittled them down, restricting peoples rights to exercise their beliefs, forcing them to practice behind closed doors. As for the Salem Witch Trials, it was later proven that the law back then was that anyone who was convicted of Witchcraft, forfeited their ancestral lands, all properties and monies were then given to the governing bodies at that time. Therefore, the townships enriched themselves stealing the properties and inheritance of surviving family members. President Clinton, during his time in office sanctioned a historical study of these incidents, and generations of those families were still being financially affected by those decisions made by those founding fathers of those townships. The legacy of witchcraft had been following those descendants. When it was discovered that the whole thing was basically a hoax, and based on lies for financial gain, President Clinton then pardoned all of those victims from that era, of the Salam Witch trials. This is not to say that there are those who do practice black arts and attempt to communicate with the dead, and wind up speaking to demons. yes it happens. There is an entire cottage industry making money on so called haunted houses, which I believe are inhabited by demons!! Demons masquerading as dead people to trick people into believing lies about the true state of the dead. Now that I know the truth, I prayerfully attempt to educate as many as possible about what the Bible says about death, and demons, and about Jesus Christ, and salvation and the Second Coming. I believe this is what Christians should be doing, besides helping the poor, hungry, homeless, and elderly and orphans, and the lost. Sorta scary, but some of them are interesting, somewhat. It’s not scary at all to me. We shouldn’t be scared at all, remember as I walk through the valley of death I shall fear no evil, amen 🙏. Just the physical world that scares me, I’d fear my neighbors more than what I can’t see. I personally think 🤔 it could be real but they are souls that are lost, maybe the soul is the conscious of ones person that may have done something wrong and lost 😞 their way. Perhaps they just need closure to move on. Maybe the best thing to do is pray for them, even for wrong doers, I’ve always been the 1 or type of person to forgive and forget, it’s just a wonderful thing when you can do that.

@Yeah Right. The sermon was about what happens after death. My initial comments incorporated your last paragraph comments. Concerning your first paragraph, time does not work for God, as it does for man, in context to death. Knowing the future implies there is nothing you can do to change the future. This is what was implied when I said “How can you know the future, without being able to change it”. Maybe I should’ve rephrased that differently. Sin separates us from God’s gift, not time. How would the sinful be separated from time, if they spend eternity in the lake of fire? God is not time, God controls time, and the possibilities through it. Not sure where you’re getting your philosophy of God from.

Mr. Batchelor, I have heard my dead father's voice talk to me many times, but what made me believe it was actually him, was because he was the only one that ever called me (JohnnyBoy) my Dad was the only one who refers to me by that name. Therefore, when I heard his voice, and he said JohnnyBoy I knew it was him. I do believe what the bible says, and I do believe your point as it being demons, not actually my Dad. It has happened already two times. I miss him so much! One of the times he spoke to me, he actually was telling me, that I had to leave early for work, that there was going to be an accident on the highway and would be late for work. I left for work earlier than usual and did not see any accidents, however, when I arrived at work, I turned on the tv and it was on the news, two semi tankers jacked knifed on the same side of the the highway and the highway was closed for four hours. I believe when you ask God to speak or see a dead love one he will give you a sign, I see my mother in my dreams and twice two light beams came through my window towards the section of the couch my mom sits when she came over, i did not hear her voice or see her, i think i heard her voice in my dream, i an still seeking more from God on what he allows

Your dead dad was protecting you sometimes such things happen to be honest i don't know if was your dad or not but even demons sometimes tell the Truth just like they said about that man possessed with legion jesus i know and i heard of paul they didn't say i know paul they said i heard of paul in another version KJV version i think they said i know paul i am not sure the bottom line is sometimes they do tell the truth ya in KJV they said i know paul in other version its changed to i heard about paul trying to hide Paul main apostle for us in church age but they do tell a lot of truth we have e to learn how to filter the lie and know the truth eve was never told not to touch the Fruit it was not to eat but she changed the Word not touch so half truth
