What are your thoughts on the amp overall, is it worth it? What settings and effects were on that last solo you were doing in the video, it was amazing?
@DougDopplerMusic19 күн бұрын
Hey Morte! The more I play it, the more I love it. I firmly believe it is worth it, with a few caveats. The whole reason Boogie went to the multi-channel format from the one channel with dual modes (Rhythm or Lead) was to give you independent controls for both. THAT said, this amp gives you a level of sculpting control that the Mark IIC+ modes on the other Boogies make some choices for you - and smart ones. However, sitting with this amp is addictive and it is VERY musical. The last solo had two effects in Pro Tools that are my go to studio plug-ins - the Cooper Time Cube delay and Lexicon 224 reverb. I'm running them on auxiliary inputs so the delay and reverb are parallel which creates better separation of the delay and reverb, which for studio purposes is a win. Hope that answers your questions;) THANKS for watching, taking the time to jump in on the convo and for sharing your questions and kind words! Happy Holidays ~ Doug:)

@DougDopplerMusicКүн бұрын
GREAT question. It might not be right away, but there WILL be a video on this. GENERALLY SPEAKING Class A has less headroom (breaks up sooner and tends not to be as tight) vs. CLASS B which tends to have more headroom (break up later and be tighter). This in turn is augments by whether the tubes are running in Pentode (more efficient) or Triode (less efficient). The sum of all of that being how the amp behaves both in clean and dirty settings is GREAT for those of us who love to manipulate how an amp behaves per the style/sound you're going for. THANKS for watching and posing a GREAT question. There WILL be a video on this. THANKS and Happy New Year:)

One thing to kinda point out is that the JP-2C (and I assume the Mark VII, which sounds more like the JP than the Mark V's IIC+ mode) are based on the non Simul-Class 60/100W IIC+ that JP prefers. Metallica used the Simul-Class one.

Using IR with this legendary amp? Come on man! This amp deserves real cabinet. You can’t feel the tone with IR’s.
@DougDopplerMusic22 күн бұрын
Hey! First off, THANKS for watching and for sharing your thoughts. I'm a Boogie cab FANATIC, so I totally feel you. However, playing these amps 'at volume' in the same room hour after hour can cause one to get both a case of ear fatigue, and even worse in the demo world, you respond to the energy in the room at the expense of really hearing what it sounds like. Between the Recto Traditionals, Horizontal, 1x12s, Thieles, and 4x10s, I'm ALL the way down the rabbit trail. Another challenge is that there is a demo for demos process and that requires moving even a combination of 121s/57s sometimes to capture the essence of the amps. The IRs in CabClone IR are AWESOME, and make for a GREAT workflow. That said, I feel you. Thanks again, noted:)
@kaish818421 күн бұрын
@@DougDopplerMusicbro if you use IR that means nothing if you use another amp for example peavey result is not so much different than mesa. just try it then you will understand.
@DougDopplerMusic19 күн бұрын
@@kaish8184 respectfully, for my purposes, I disagree. I've got hundreds of IRs from a range of manufacturers, and they can reflect that mics, pre-amps and EQ choices made by the engineers. The CabClone IR impulse responses were done by a BRILLIANT engineer who was hand picked by Boogie for the job. I own just about every cab that's in there and these IRs are legit, love this box, but more importantly the care that went into crafting the IRs. Not trying to be disagreeable, but given how important this box is to me, I want to people to know that:) Cheers and Happy Holidays. You make it sing and sound fantastic, but I just see no reason to buy these amps at these prices amongst Mesa's other offerings and years of mark amps which do the exact same thing. Not to mention the Jp series. Gibson is gonna do what Gibson does best. Overprice, overhype and underdeliver time and time again.
@DougDopplerMusicКүн бұрын
Hey Manley! THANKS for watching and sharing your kind words and thoughts - all of them - appreciated. On one of the forum's I hang out on someone did that math applying the rate of inflation to the price of the originals and it was really close to the price on these amps. As I've mentioned a few times here and there, my first Boogie was a Mark IIB which I bought factory direct back in the day. It was not a cheap amp then... but the craftsmanship and quality of build were second to none. This reissue is a FANTASTIC amp, and in IMHO the asking price is not out of this world. Noting that I take 'listening' seriously (thanks again for sharing your thoughts), I just did a little Googling and of note the MIA Friedmans, Soldanos, and Fenders in are all above $3,000. California (my home state) has gone out of its way to chase manufacturers away, but Boogie has stayed. The people who build these amps have a level of love an affection that is decades deep and is one of many things I love about these amps. In any case, this IS is a noteworthy topic and again I appreciate your taking the time to watch and share your kind words and thoughts - BOTH appreciated. Happy New Year:)
