This old song brings the tears, both of sadness and joy - - - the memories of dear ones lost, the passage of time and gratefulness for those we love today. Now that I'm old, the passage of time becomes precious, memories become dear and the nearness of eternity becomes a comfort. Good-bye and good riddance to 2020 and a hope for God's blessings on us in 2021.

My heart is so touched by this song. It goes back it seems so many centuries and yet just too yesterday. Life is long and strange but God is available to us. I hear him in this lovely song. Times long ago. I think I will listen to it several times today and I've sent it to my six children. Such a lovely song holistic healing and meaning.

My grandparents are dead, my parents are dead, my uncles and aunts are dead, and sometimes I wish they were all still alive and around, especially at times when winter seems long and warmth and summertime seems ages away. Every good thing they gave during their life will never be forgotten!!! You are infinitely loved and cherished!!!

A fine, sensitive rendition. And listen to the sonorous Scots pronunciation! What a joy after hearing so many American singers who insist on pronouncing ‘syne’ with a voiced ‘z’ sound at the beginning and other such bungles! This is fine. Aye it is.
