I knew about antisemitism disguised as antizionism and yet I was naiv. Unbelievable I really thought, reality could defeat ideology.
@justathumb Жыл бұрын
interestingly i had an honestly objective reaction - the headlines had been so vague and dismissive the day it happened, when i read the DETAILS, and realised thousands of innocent civilians had been massacred, i was absolutely outraged. why had the media downplayed it so much?! all they had written was something like "war breaks out in israel, hundreds killed and injured". they made it sound like a legitimate battleground following the rules of war, not a slaughter at a music event. i did not even know who was involved, that oversight alone horrified me, and it's just continued that way.
@bobtaylor170 Жыл бұрын
@@justathumb there is a diabolical conspiracy against Israel, and I am not being figurative. The immediate demonstrations, saturated with media coverage, have spiritual inspirations, evil ones. The goals are to defame Israel, and to make anti - Israel demonstrations so common, sane people start to think they've missed something, and that they have been mistaken in supporting Israel. An attempt to induce peer pressure, in other words, is being made by news coverage and by what appears to be popular opinion to turn the entire world against Israel. I'm a Christian, and while it is not true that we see the presence of a physical Israel as in any way necessary to a Second Coming, it is true that some of us believe that the nation occupies a special place in God's plan for the consummation of all things. If we are right, then all of this makes much more sense, doesn't it?

Gaza is the inheritance of the House of Judah (Zephaniah 2:4-7). Besides, all of Canaan (never known as 'Palestine'), from the Med coastline from the River of Egypt to Lebanon, extending east of the Jordan (the territory of 2 1/2 of the Twelve Tribes of Jacob - see Joshua 1) to the Euphrates, is the blood covenanted Abrahamic inheritance through Isaac (Gen 17), for royal dominion by the House of Jacob which will be ruled by their Messiah, forever, on the restored throne of David (Gen 15; Ps 59:13; 105:8-11; Is 9:6,7; Jer 31-33; Ezek 47:13-23; Micah 4:1-8; 7:8-20; Lk 1:32,33; Mk 11:10; Rom 15:8). If you want to pick a fight with the Living God, turn a blind eye to what is written and continue poking the apple of His eye, and see what becomes of your life. Free Palestine is therefore a baseless cause. Even the Koran doesn't disagree that Canaan was given to Israel through Moses. Whoever foments and sows hatred for Zion by urging their extinction by denying their chosenness for sovereignty over the only country on earth whose borders are specified by the Holy Scriptures as immutable Divine Law (Ezek 47:13-23) guess what - they will reap what they sow. This is a necessary consequence of anti Semitism because world peace hinges on Israel being exalted to pre-eminence in their Land, as chief of nations, through their New Covenant (Deut 26:16-19; Jer 31:7,10,17,31-37). Jesus confirmed the promises to the fathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Rom 15:8). Agreeing with Him that Israel is heir of Canaan rather than taking the suicidal route of opposition to the truth by coveting Israel's statehood by libelling the Jew as an occupier of 'Palestinian' land, is the first step necessary to end this madness

Thank you, Douglas Murray, and thank you, Jewish Chronicle. I am 81 years old, Jewish, and the 7th October 2023 - you are right - changed my life. Having grown up in a Nazi-oriented country, fearful and semi-isolated, I and my cousins felt safer as we aged. All that has gone now; we are in shock and are grieving for Israeli relatives and friends. Life will be very different from now onwards. Douglas Murray, you probably have no idea how good it is to listen to someone who speaks as you do: acknowledging that Jewish people are fully human, and that we suffer just as the rest of the world does. The evil of Hamas is unspeakable - i.e., there are no words for it. Both of you talked of "context" : Are the contexts not the Qur'an and the Hadith? In my readings of both, I see and feel hatred of Jews, and hear Muhammad's directions to rid the earth of us. Am probably wrong - usually am - but to me the context is evident. The words in the Hadith and in the Qur'an are usually the only books Islamic children read and learn from. And those words lead them to behave as Muhammad did; as they believe he would have liked them to behave. (??) Thanks again to both of you. Your voices remain in my head tonight.
@king-fisher Жыл бұрын
You are *100% correct:* The Hamas charter (written in 1988) cites a Hadith (Sahih Muslim) calling for the extinction of the Jewish people. Muhammad himself slaughtered 700 Jewish civilians in Banu Qurayza. People who think this just a "land dispute" which dates back to 1948, are fools. Antisemtism is ENCODED into Islam.

I agree with Douglas: I don't think they actually care that much about the Palestinian people. Over the last 15yrs I've noticed how, throughout the year, there will be some form of pro-Palestinian activism: perhaps stalls at universities, a small demo outside an event; the 'boycott Israel' weeks; the attempts to intimidate councils and businesses into either boycotts or rejecting any operator who has had any link with Israel - and so on. A slow paced activism perhaps, but enough to keep the flame alive. When something major occurs, such as Operation Cast Lead, the Mavi Marmara, the March to Jerusalem etc, these people will take to their keyboards en masse and march in the streets. They aren't urging the Palestinians to seek peace, but effectively telling them that they support their aims of 'from the river to the sea'. At the same time they will be demonising Israel and anyone who can see the reality of the situation. They'll use emotive terms and always, always, they will tell us how despicable we are because children are dying. By the very nature of their activism they are encouraging the people of Gaza and West Bank to fight on and yet when the casualties start to increase they seem not to see the part they have played in creating the human suffering that they blame on everyone but themselves.

Many years ago, I arrived at the high school that I'd very recently started only to find students walking out instead of in. When I inquired, I was told that it was a student walkout in solidarity with teachers and coaches who apparently were having some labor dispute with the NYC Board of Ed. So, naturally I walked out too. Or, technically, I never walked in, and kept on walking. You could say that I was joining in the walkout, strike, protest or whatever they called it, but in reality I was just taking the day off, as, I imagine, were most students. Not that I had anything against teachers and coaches and didn't support them in their dispute with the BoE, but, I'd be lying if I said that this was the primary reason that I walked out. I was 15 and taking the day off. I bring this up because I suspect that this is why many of the protesters are protesting. Sure, it's a bit more serious and they are actually marching and shouting and all that, and not just walking out. But I doubt that most of them really care all that much about Palestinians, or even know let alone care much about the situation. It's mostly a chance to pat themselves on the back for being such wonderful people who "care" so much and are working mightily to make the world a better and more just place place, and feel like they're accomplishing something. But they're not, they're really not. This supposedly "massive" pressure that Israel is facing to stand down is mostly just talk, and then less because world leaders actually care about Palestinians as because they're worried about being targeted by terroristic blowback for seeming to support Israel. But behind the scenes most are, I'm pretty sure, quietly supporting Israel and hope that it gets the job done. It's not that they aren't bothered by all the civilian deaths and suffering--I mean who isn't--but rather they want Hamas to be destroyed and the global Islamist terrorist movement of which it's a major part to be dealt a major blow. But I'm honestly not that bothered by all these "From the river to the sea!" chanting idiots. They mostly have no idea what they're talking about or really anything and are just slumming it by joining these protests. When asked, they either mumble or repeat the same canned talking points that are fed to them by their self-important leaders.

Some of what you're saying is plausible enough yet whatever their various motives may or may not be, be it total ignorance or otherwise, they are all supporting Hamas and putting pressure on western governments to oppose Israel's right to defend herself.

Douglas looks tired and disturbed by what he has seen. He is a true gem and voice of reason. I can’t understand anyone on these marches. After what happened on 7th October. It’s like marching after 9/11. I watch in horror and disbelief. No Gaza’s innocents shouldn’t be suffering now but Hamas should have thought about that before they massacred and kidnapped innocent Jewish people. Hamas doesn’t care about Gaza!

I’m wondering if anyone is aware that the Hyde park Hamas march is in the SAME LOCATION as the Australian war memorial and as such the Australian people cannot get to it to lay wreaths…. We payed a very high price in WW1 and to for that matter. As a veteran I am disgusted.

For some people marching its a day out, it's an event for them to go to, to express their own frustration of life. Living is restricted in the UK with the Government's implementation of the world agenda, and with inflation, fewer jobs, tough laws, , the country is depressed. If one asked a thousand people why they march, it may be found there are hundreds of different reasons.

That's not the way the system works. They have parliamentary government, so he would first have to be an elected member of Parliament and become the head of his party. His party would then have to wait until the next election is called, and win a majority of the House of Commons or make a coalition with another party which would agree to vote with his party. Then, he could become Prime Minister. I can't imagine that the Conservative party would accept him, and I'm sure he and Labor have a mutual detestation. I think the Social Democratic party is too small to win control of Commons. And I don't know enough about them to know whether Murray or they would want one another. But I agree that he would be a great Prime Minister. I think his aspiration is to continue as a journalist along the line of George Orwell when Orwell was a journalist.

October 7th shocked me. I didn't and don't understand the reaction to the Jewish community, and the lack of support for their situation from so many people. It made me realise how little I actually knew the history and politics of the entire mess, only vague ideas. It has made me educate myself since then to understand in far more detail the actual facts. It seems to me now that the vast majority of us regular folks are woefully ignorant and need to work at seeing the dangers and exactly where they are cming from in order to take a firm stand.

I very much doubt that. We’ve stood idly by whilst they set up rape gangs in every town and city in the country and sang “don’t look back in anger” when they blew up children at a concert. People won’t step up whilst they know the police and political class stand firmly with the jihadist community.

As a Christian, I am dismayed and disgusted by the open anti-semitism I read/see in The Guardian and Novara Media (a genuine cesspit) - non of such media I spend much time on. I do listen to George Galloway (MOATS) and agree with him on so many subjects…but I am gripped with a deep caution when he discusses Israel and Palestine. The reason is: he never invites/interviews/discusses HIS long-held (and principled) views with a debater of his calibre (like Murray). I am in my 7th decade. I have watched the situation in the Levant for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately, the one fact I can state with some certainty is: the history of and current situation in Gaza and the West Bank is poorly understood by the vast majority who opine on TV/Radio and social media.
@trinitylane2202 Жыл бұрын
If the protestors really were for Palestinians they would be having anti-Hamas marches. I saw an interview with a Hamas leader and Hamas views these pro-Palestine marches as pro-Hamas. And I don't think they're wrong. There were even some people carrying banners with the Hamas' codename for the Oct 7th attack. And none of the other marchers destroyed those banners as they did with the gay pride flag displayed at one march. I also believe there's an argument to be made that the marches were organized by Hamas supporters who had prior knowledge of the attack, along with many of those participating. It would explain how they were able to organize these marches so soon.
@megansummersides4255 Жыл бұрын
We all know what’s going. If those protesters were indeed for the “Palestinian civilians” why on earth can’t I find one leader in the Muslim community or any Muslim for that matter condemn what happened to Israel and for the hate marching to end🤔
