I have the hardest time with the perseverance and persistence. I get a good routine going, set good intentions and am doing well, then something happens, either an argument, illness, or just a bad week and I feel like my routine breaks, my mood shifts, and all my habits go out the window and I’m back to square one with recovery. Over the years in therapy I describe it as my depression roller coaster and it’s frustrating. I hate looking back and knowing that I have so many ups and downs with my depression. It makes it harder to feel motivated to continue doing the work.

I can't fall asleep when I'm on my own mind. But in order not to think and ruminating I watch videos on youtube on my phone, there are countless videos of walks around the world. Walks in the rain are very calming. You need to enter the name of the city + "rain walk". Or the name of the place + "walk". For example, Tokyo rain walk, Sydney rain walk, New York walk. There is a beautiful province in India called Kerala (search for: Kerala rain walk). In this way, I stop thinking and, by the way, visit places in the world - and fall asleep very quickly. There are also videos from trains: someone attaches a camera in the driver's cabin and records the entire train journey. The routes in Norway, the Alps and Japan are beautiful. You have to look for: train view, train driver view. The videos on the "Post 10" channel are also cool.

@@DouglasBloch Hi, thank you for your videos. Do you think in most cases depression and anxiety go away on their own (with the help of some healing methods of course) with time? Have you ever suffered from scary existential thoughts or fear of death/nothingness ?
@mirovinac3968 Жыл бұрын
@@irenaw2504 Anxiety and depression do go away, especially when you find that YOU ARE your master. You are not just with those stupid thoughts and feelings, every human has infinite combinations and variations of thoughts but the trick is to tame your irritant childish mind who is torturing you. Everyone goes through such thoughts, it's perfectly normal. We wouldn't be humans if we don't ask questions. It's in our nature. But don't take it so serious. This world is EVERYTHING you can imagine, feel AND MUCH MORE. We are so small and understand practically nothing. So that's why we are torturing orselves - it's our brain who torture himself. It's in most cases your negative thinking, fears and insecurities from childhood. Don't bully and don't pity yourself. Get out of your stupid head, live life well, be kind to yourself and others. You will be happy and then you will lightly accept the fact that everybody and everything lives and dies and is born/created again (I'm not talking about reincarnation) and therefore this life have a meaning. In the mean time, maybe God/Universe will explain more to you. Even your question of meaning is a meaning.

"Words that heal the blues" was my bible for a time while I was struggling. Over the years I have purchased a few copies to give away to other people who were struggling as well and your book gave me the insight to see they were struggling and not just being aggressive and rude in our interactions. Thank you so much. Your books with tiny morning tea reads and index to quickly locate the particular strategy that you know works for you is invaluable. I still just read them for their insights.

Hi Douglas, thanks for all of your videos. I have a question: I am currently so depressed, that I now need to stay at my parents. Also, I have my own apartment in a city, where I want to start studying in October. But the apartment gives me anxiety and panic attacks, because it smells really bad, the neighbours are loud and I hate it so much overall. I can't cancel the lease because I need just any apartment for studying (in Germany most students don't live on campus). But I also rather want to sleep all day at my parents house, because of the depression. Travelling and apartment hunting is too much, decision making is too much, everything is too much. Staying at my parents as well as my current apartment can't be a permanent solution. I feel like I got excluded from life. Do you have any ideas or comments? Thank you very much!
@DouglasBloch2 жыл бұрын
I had to stay with my parents for a while when I was too depressed to function well. It was a temporary sanctuary. I suggest that you find a very good therapist who is experienced in helping people recover from depression. You may also want to find a Prescriber as your brain may need some chemical support. Also, you can quit the lease if you’re willing to pay the extra money. I wonder if your parents would help you with this. Do you have your whole life ahead of you, so tell yourself this is just a temporary situation
@cappuccino_please2 жыл бұрын
@@DouglasBloch thank you! My parents are very supportive. But of course they are overwhelmed with psychological issues, because they have actually never experienced depression themself. Fortunately, I have a therapist to talk to, but currently he only has time every 3 weeks but at least he was the only one, where I could get a spot. Your videos also help a lot. In the last live stream you asked which video did the trick - but honestly, all of them are helpful, each topic for itself.

I like that what would I look like if I was true from anxiety and depression the problem is like what if you or what if you have some degrees of hypomania or you know you’re just in the world thought systems and you start thinking you want to move Tessler and play OK say you have something we have autism right when that happens you take the higher aspects of executive function the ones tied to find me a higher order Creating things without modeling dealing with issues of dealing with issues isn’t the right path will feel right what happens you know it gets more complicated when you have something like you can diagnose with or the bipolar but also clearly have autistic patterns. Not just what if I weren’t depressed or anxious because even if you were good and your energy is good, there’s other things going on so you really wanna address them all because I’m not depressed or I do things that end up not still not happy like I’ll get into school and I am not equipped with all the things I need to and I’ll have to drop out and pay a lot of money or when I’m not depressed and anxious
