There has never been a time when I have thought about escaping into the outdoors as much as I do now. I am always collecting thoughts and ideas for the best gear. This lighter is not only collectible, but it's a great EDC lighter for someone who is into hiking, camping, and backpacking. Fortunately my son lives in Japan. Think I will have him send the old man the field S. Nice review.

"That really lights my flame." I get it because it is a review of a lighter and it has a flame. 🤗

I got one as a gift it's a nice lighter. But i still use clipper lighters more than any.

Great lighter - I got the Aluminium version of yours, because the weight is a little less. Even so, I regard it as too heavy for hiking, when I take a box of good 'ol matches and a small ferro for backup. Also got the (much heavier) Field S in Brass, because it's such a lovely bit of kit! By the way, you have a spare flint inside the larger screwcap (in case you didn't know).

I just purchased the brass version. I really like it. It feels quality built and looks really great. When the time comes, how do you change the wick? I can’t find any info about that.

Not sure I never did it!

No, and the little one I have is completely in Chinese!

You just need soft flints, like ronson fire bronze, problem solved

I worry about this lighter. I've heard it evaporates quite quickly - within a month - that's no better than an IMCO that costs 1/5th of the price. Also, much of the construction is brass, which gets hotter than steel. I dunno - it just seems like yet another of those Chinese "trench lighter" clones that never seem to live up to the hype. I'd like to see how this stacks up against my trusty IMCO, but the price - ugh!

I’d love to see your lighter , I’m intrigued.

@@LesSummer It's just a standard old IMCO 6600 - a step up from a Zippo, but nothing special. It's not even that great among IMCOs - the IMCO 6700 and 6800 both probably hold fuel longer.

This is Japanese craftsmanship at its finest. One of the best tolerances out there. Don’t know where you got the Chinese trench lighter idea to be honest. This is widely regarded as one of the best built lighters out there
@Beery1962 Жыл бұрын
@@antoniocastrojimenez8366 All I know is what people say about it: that it doesn't hold fuel very long, and that the cap doesn't work properly when it gets hot. The craftsmanship may be great, but if they use the wrong materials for the job, it's going to expand due to heat and leak.

This lighter seems nice, but broke in about 1 week of pocket carry - furthermore, the company refused to help with parts or service, as I hadn't ordered it from their official distribution retailer in the US, who was completely sold out and has continued to be for over 6 months. Complete garbage, do not buy.

It’s a fancy lighter. Holds fluid longer than a zippo, but never as long a BIC lighter you can buy for 3 bucks anywhere, nor as reliable as a 3 dollar BIC. I would not rely on this lighter as my main fire starter while on a walk through of the AT trail or anything like that, but I’d probably carry it as one of my fire sources, because I like it. Probably not a good lighter to jam in a pocket filled with other stuff like keys and change in a tight front jeans pocket. Probably would be best if it was carried in a front shirt pocket or cargo pocket. If handled appropriately it is a great lighter, and it’s a great conversation piece! It’s a good, even reliable lighter, if you are always mindful it’s not going to take kindly to the beatings you would give to a Zippo or plain lighter. Sorry yours broke. Maybe quality control is suffering if they are making and selling so many.

Sounds like you got a Chinese copy and not the real deal. Mine is now 10 years old and it works as the first day
