Whenever we sin we are lying to ourselves. We think that, by doing something bad, something good will happen. But it never works that way! Sin always ruins things. All sin follows the same pattern: It seems like a good idea at first (sin often looks like the easy option) but it always ends badly. Doing things God's way is the exact opposite: it might not seem like a great idea at first (following God can be hard!) but it always ends in blessing. God always keeps his promises and His way leads to life. Sin makes big promises it can't keep and it always leads to death and ruination. Sin is a liar.
