Sometimes in poker, you've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, and know when to check/call small bets so as not to arouse suspicion that you can see everyone's hole cards. In this hand, Mike Postle (aka GOD) somehow manages to lose the minimum with an ace-high flush. What a player!

I would of gone broke on Zynga poker then chucked my phone. This guy knows he has to call to cover his ass but also knows it’s a losing move. The commentator is clearly in on it and does not even realise that mike has to call. You can see him thinking that’s my cut of the profits you are throwing away, not even really thinking about how folding would look.

@ShirazEsat

Pairing, though, is something you often want when you have a nut flush, as you're more likely to get callers on the turn. Also, the fact that the straight was possible on the river, means you're going to get more hero callers.These sort of turn/rivers allow for more value bets, and the odds of being beat are SO low (although in this case, he was beat by the absolute nuts!)
@Inbal_Feuchtwanger
@Inbal_Feuchtwanger 5 жыл бұрын
@@ShirazEsat While true, if you remove any possibility of a full house you are left literally putting your opponent on the only possible hand that can beat you. "I just knew he had a straight flush" is a far more outlandish stance. This hand is supposed to bust you though I agree, pretty clear that something is not right.

Not necessarily. When someone is playing a level above everyone else in anything it's just natural for the commentary to start to become centered around them. This happens all the time in team sports. The best guy on the court field is going to be talked about more than anyone else. Everyone here has the power of hindsight. In the moment they aren't going to assume a guy is cheating, so naturally they're going to try to rationalize his decisions, and commentate from his perspective.

I play low limit cash games at stones. This will not affect the majority of players there. Why? We do not play streamed games ever. This is for high rollers that like action. Did they get cheated. Probably. If I sat down and the same people ran over the game the first thing I would do is quit playing with these people. They are either way better than me or I am being cheated. Either way I would just quit. Its like you lose ten sessions in a row. Take a break. Unlike some of these players I do not make my living playing poker.

Doug in future Postle hands could you do some analysis from Postle’s point of view assuming he can see exactly what he’s up against? Daniel Murphy he knows if he’s won or lost before the cards are delt. That’s his point of view. He’s what’s called a “take-off man” which is the dumbest guy in the crew working this hustle. The smart guys are never under the lights. So if a take-off man gets popped the cheaters are fine. They just lose a easy to replace guy like postle. This shits been going on for years. Everyone is asleep!

if it isnt all suspicious enough already, there's an extremely damning piece of info you didn't mention. When you have the nut flush here and just flat a 1/3rd pot river bet, don't you just flick in one chip, confidently flip over your hand and look to not slow roll your opponent when you almost always have the best of it? But no, Postle puts in the $140 instead of just flicking in a chip to signify the call (an indication he knows he is beat) and then holds his cards so his opponent can show and he can muck without revealing immediately to the table that he just called on that river with that hand. "It's like he knows!!"

To be fair, the commentators aren't necessarily in on it. Maybe they've just been suspicious before and brought their suspicions up with their boss (Justin I believe), and were told there was nothing going on and they shouldn't let on that they're suspicious in any way as it could hurt the stream. These people could just be doing their jobs and following their boss' orders without actually being in on it. Kinda looks like that to me when you see the faces of the guys who have to justify calling off your entire stack with 45o, and they could very well still be suspicious and talk among themselves about it, which is probably what led to Vanessa kinda blowing the whistle on the whole thing.

If he had folded on the river, that would be damning. Do we know if he showed his hand? Curious if there was commentary immediately after that had. Doug, we need about 2.5 minutes more if video.

if T8s was in Firas's range it would also be fair to assume j7s was also in his range, Postle might have just thought he had the boat or even pocket 7s, personally, I don't think this alone is suspicious however the commentary was a little weird & I know theirs allot of other situations regarding this guy

If the nut flush loses to a different type of flush, is it really the nut flush?
@fundiver198
@fundiver198 5 жыл бұрын
A straight flush is considered as a different hand from a flush. The nut flush also lose to a full house or quads on a paired board, so it just mean the best possible flush, not the best possible hand.

If the guy checked a straight on the flop isn’t it possible he would have checked a set?
@ShirazEsat
@ShirazEsat 5 жыл бұрын
No - for the same reason that an AK player would raise high if they hit top pair/top kicker on the flop: there are SO many hands that can improve if more cards are shown. With a set, you want people to fold before others catch a straight or flush. With a straight you're only worried about others getting a flush; if you have a straight AND a flush draw, you're not too worried if a flush card shows.
@sonicboy678

@@ShirazEsat I mean, some may play it slow to goad others into betting (basically, setting a blind trap). If we're talking Postle, that's extremely unlikely, at best.

Noticing the way the discussion was "framed" was an absolute brilliant take. Exactly... the commentary is highly suspicious. How did they know Postle wasn't going to "go broke" in that situation. Even Negrano raises there. Many greats would call an All In right there. But not Postle... His choice is between calling a slow play... or folding. PALEASE!
@Hotobu
@Hotobu 5 жыл бұрын
Because it's natural for the commentary to become Postle-centric after him being a consistent winner. If a person commentating isn't thinking about cheating as a possibility then it's natural to speak from the players' perspectives and justify their actions. Considering Postle had been doing so well it's natural for the commentary to be centered around him. I don't know if you watch the Olympics, but when Usain Bolt was in a race they weren't talking about the other 7 runners.
@WesternPI1
@WesternPI1 5 жыл бұрын
@@Hotobu Well... to continue your Bolt analogy... Suppose Bolt stumbled out of the blocks and by some freak set of circumstances ended up breaking his ankle... Then, as he hobbled forward, Bolt was tragically shot by a sniper bullet which shattered his femur... Then, with the entire world watching on in horror... Bolt crawled forward toward the 100 meter finish line, only to be run over by the ambulance rushing to his assistance... At some point, as the commentators looked at Bolt laying broken and bloodied on the stadium track... Do you think they might consider the remote possibility of Bolt actually losing the race? Or, maybe even falling all the way to 2nd place? We're not talking about doubting Postle at the beginning of the hand when all "racers are standing equally at the start line". We're talking about Postle making saves requiring super-human psychic powers and the commentators acting like ... "Yeah... that's no big deal." Maybe they've been so conditioned by Postle's God like ability they've lost all sense of common sense. Still highly suspicious.

When the announcer says Apostle is gonna lose some money here they are basically telling him to not fold and that he needs to lose some money in this pot no matter what. So naturally he just calls the with the nut flush when in any other case anyone would be raising. He has an ear piece or something.
