Douthat State Park

On today’s adventure we head to California, then explore the beautiful Douthat State Park. As always thanks for watching and coming along with us!
🚙 Douthat State Park is located just off of interstate 64, in the western part of the state. It is 2.5 hour drive from Richmond, 3.5 hours from Washington D.C., and 1.5 hours from Harrisonburg.
📱 There is very little cell service.
💰There is a $7 parking fee and there is a swimming fee, which is $3 for ages 3-12, and $4 13 and up. The prices increase by a dollar on the weekend.
🏠 Cabins can be rented year round and range in price from $84 a night for an efficiency to $356 for the Douthat Lodge.
🏕️ Camping is $35 to $40.

It feels like it’s at the top of the park. That drive up there is wild! It’s real narrow, and it’s a two way until you get to a certain point. I dunno what you’d do if another car came.

That was a mighty looking fish. I assume one could fish there given one has a proper rod and license?

I believe so. Might even be able to rent a boat, kayak, or canoe. I’m not sure, I couldn’t find it on the park site, but I saw a plethora or watercraft at the boat landing.

Next Memorial Day weekend Geowoodstock is in Morgantown, WV. Are you going to go? It’s close-ish again.

It’s tempting! We went to 13 in Boonsboro, so maybe? It’s about 3 hours or so from us.

A lot. 40 I believe. I’m going to have to start doubling up. And I don’t really want to pay to cross CBBT again just to go to Kiptopeake.
