That looks like such a cool adventure. Really awesome to hear the chit chat back and forth. Definitely got dad of the Year award.

I was 12 when I did it the first time so about 4 years ago and I fell 5 times just getting to it and it was my first month on a 2001 XR 400 (I was a big 12 year old and I outgrew my 150 really fast) from having to keep picking that big bike up over and over again I was already exhausted getting there and I fell 6 more times getting back to the wide open nice straight trails. I never felt so happy to ride in a straight line and when I got back to camp it was dark and I sat in the chair next to the fire pit and passed out 😂 Good Times and Memories. Also the thing that I loved to see was you riding with your pops. Even though I don’t talk to mine now thank you for making me remember those memories when I did with mine bc even though I have my differences with my dad those can never be replaced or forgotten.

I did this trail when i was 8 or 9 years old with my dad on an XR 70 and CRF 100 when i was 10 or 12. It was soooo hard on the 70 i remember. It's so cool you guys can communicate while riding, i wouldve killed to have that with my dad back in the day. My dad would always have to look back for me and after rides he'd tell me how many times he'd look back to see if i was still there and i always was. He had faith in me that i could do it. Every time he'd look back i'd always be there, keeping up right behind him. Although I spilled it so many times over tree roots and rocks. I'm 27 now so I'd be interested to come back here and see how it has changed if it has at all. I ride a YZ125 now and an XR 250 big bore! This trail and area is very special to me because my family would come here every year to ride bikes and camp. I know so many hidden secret locations out here in dove springs. There are so many beautiful locations to see. We explored every direction of this place. We found a gravesite, a giant rock formation, a massive oak tree, the radio towers, the trail to lake isabella, the mines, etc...

That's a long ride for a 70😁. There's still some good riding, but I sure it's much different than you remember. 80% of the area has been designated off limits and there are heavy ranger patrols to enforce it.

The desert tank really opened up the longer loops. I love not having to carry fuel on my back for these rides now.

The very first video I ever posted to KZbin was me trying to make it to McIver's cabin. It took me three tries but I finally made it. It's a fun trail! And yes there used to be tons of trails in that area but they just keep closing them down.

It's not in the video, but when we were up there I said that I bet Collin would like this ride. Dash replied, "I bet he's already been here, he's been everywhere!" I went back and watched your first video, then I started watching more of the early ones. All I can say is wow, you did everything we did😀.

We plan on going for president day weekend. Have not been out there for about 10 years. Where do you camp at to ride to the cabin and also see the man made cave. Thank you
@dashrides26792 жыл бұрын
The mines are all on the east side of the 14fwy. Dove Springs and the Cabin are on the west side. It's pretty easy to get to any of those locations.

What communication device do you use to talk to Dash? My friend and I are riding together, but we have walkie talkies and it's sometimes hard to communicate with each other also with all the sand in Gorman.

Love your videos. You guys rule! I'm looking at coming to CA here in a few weeks to ride/camp and it looks like you guys have ridden most of the areas we were hoping to go to (Hungry Valley, Johnson Valley, etc...). Got any advice on where we should go mid-February? It looks like things might be a bit out there right now. Thanks!

@@dashrides2679 Yup, lots of amazing area out there. Im coming from Oregon. Do you think Hungry or Johnson Valley will be viable options mid-Feb?
@dashrides26794 жыл бұрын
@@joestevens5658 Both could get snow at any time. Dash had a race in Johnson Valley last weekend. It was overcast at the start, then rain, and by the end 2 hours later there was a blizzard and 3 inches of snow! I would check out Spangler Hills or Ridgecrest. The elevation is lower. Those places are both out in the Mojave. If you haven't experienced the desert before, then it's a must do.

This looked like the trail became a lot of fun in the second half!! Every time I watch a video of you guys riding, it seems you're both getting faster and better! Congrats on getting to the cabin. And good job keeping your eyes out for oncoming traffic. So many side by sides out there now, every blind corner is scary.
