Fascinating ad from the co which peddles Fair & Lovely . The premise of that product has been that dark skin is a prob. And their cream is a solution .
The brand's motto might be soft skin and all but as an individual short film ad this is THE BEST. This shows the struggle of every teenage girl. How our society have set some beauty standards and if you don't fit in that then you're screwed.

It's not always beauty test. Moms use Haldi on face for the skin to glow and it also has healing properties for many skin conditions. Using haldi is always better than some soap like dove. They don't apply haldi thinking about future marriage, this is stupid. Mom covered the pimples area with hair because she is worried how the fellow classmates or teachers will react seeing them. The waist measurement and the specs clip doesn't happen usually. Just remember that Indian parents care more about their children then most of the Western countries. Moral: Don't fall on Western propaganda. Their team made this ad and tried to show that even applying haldi/turmeric is stupid. Applying ayurvedic method is always better than dove or whatever they are trying to sell.

Still I was happy bcs I had little interest in dance and show off but once, I was returning from the school on bicycle and one stray dog clashed with my cycle with high speed. I fell badly on the ground and got a leg sprain, it was really hard for me to get up ,the street was empty that day ,I was looking desperately for someone's hand to get a help so that I could get up ,then luckily I saw 2 boys who were my classmates passing through the street ,they looked at me and my bag bottle all the stuff on the road and giggled ,they said ( ohh dekho bhens gir gai, dekho zameen ko fracture ho gaya hoga kal repair karana padega) ,I told them i ve got a sprain can someone help me but they didn't even listen or turned back. That day I cried a little ,but I really didn't knew that time that this is the reality of this world. Even after that instance I got to face a lot mockery of my body until I lost my weight. Now I'm working in private sector with 10hrs sitting on the chair and again having weight issues ,MY mom scolds me daily for my weight bcs she thinks no one will choose me. But I feel ,ur increased weight won't give U that pain but if u r dependent on someone for money or support ur life will be miserable. So don't worry girls, give ur health and career the first priority

In the Dove ad, Garvita truly shines! Her infectious smile and confidence lit up the screen. What stood out to me the most was how Dove celebrated her beauty, showing that being "chubby" isn't just okay-it's downright beautiful! Garvita's presence was like a burst of sunshine on a rainy day. Her positivity and self-assurance were inspiring. It reminded me that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and each one is worth celebrating. When I think about it, Garvita embodied everything Dove stands for: embracing diversity and challenging conventional beauty standards. Her joy was contagious, and it made me rethink how I see beauty in myself and others. In a world where we're bombarded with unrealistic ideals, Garvita's portrayal was refreshingly real. It made me appreciate that true beauty isn't about fitting into a narrow mold but rather about embracing our uniqueness and radiating confidence from within. So, here's to Garvita and everyone who reminds us that beauty is more than skin deep-it's about loving ourselves, exactly as we are. Dove got it right: every body is beautiful, and Garvita is a radiant example of that truth.

Dove is owned by Hindustan Unilever who also owns fair and lovely the brand which made an entire generation of people insecure about there skin colour.

Yes, there are judgemental people in society but then again: 1. This company peddles Fair and lovely, so it's rich coming from them. 2. These companies feed off insecurities. 3. I must say Girls are not the only ones. Even Boys are treated shit based on their height, physique and money. But society won't show that since unfortunately it's not best for business.

What to wear and what not to What to do and what not to What’s perfect and what’s imperfect What’s beautiful and what’s ugly Sorry you can’t decide it for me. So if you think you can put me down By comparing me to others Then you need to grow up Because everyone is unique. If you think you can hurt me By your nasty comments Then let me tell you, I’ve blocked them from my mind And heart long time back. If you think you can ridicule me By laughing at my flaws Then go ahead and laugh But first, look at yours. If you think you can stop me from Being myself by your unsolicited advice Then keep trying, but I won’t change So don’t give stress to your little brain If you think you can break my Confidence into pieces By playing the game of body-shame Then you must know, for me Imperfection is the perfection’s new name And if you think you can stop me Loving myself, with all your bullshit Then sorry to disappoint you, You won’t succeed Because I don’t give a damn What you think about me I’m going with my flaws flawlessly." There is nothing wrong in being beautiful. But concept of beauty is different for different group of people. Have a healthy and realistic self esteem. Feeling good has a lot to do with success. What defines success is also different for different people. Just because you are fair and you have an attractive body or you look gorgeous doesn't automatically mean you are dumb and your only talent is your sex appeal. If a girl is good looking there will be boys who would unceremoniously oogle at her and there will be girls who will be bitching about her. These type of girls are mostly considered ugly by their own families. Why should another girl coming from a different family and different looks bear the cross on her behalf ? My daughters female class teacher would always make her feel average in front of other students at the time of parents teachers meet. But to become a teacher you only need a teacher's degree. Tell the teachers not to bully the students. My daughter's teacher complained against my daughter because she picked up a puppy in her school garden . She was only being kind and compassionate. Teach your girls and boys to be a good human being. That is beautiful enough.
