Then she discovered she had cancer. I felt for her… Even though I didn’t feel valued for who I am. Spent the last year caring for her. Went to every doctor appointment. Cared for her children. Thanks Paul! The Empress! I'm actually feeling the end of that bad sword play. Just this last weekend the weather shifted when I attended a workshop at Revival Drums, a wonderful drum shop in Portland, Oregon with lots of ancient relics from when drum kits were the new kid on the block. It was great to see and touch the Meinl Byzance cymbals that call to me, all the beautiful drum kits and percussion objects, and different types of sticks with which to hit them. Then after the wonderful presentation I was talking to one of the guys who works at the shop and mentioned that I was going to come back later in the week when I get paid to pick up a practice pad, and what do you know but he went and picked up and handed me a Vic Firth 12 sided object that's the perfect size to stuff in my bag with a pair of sticks and go where I can sit in a chair and do the stick drills where in just two days my hands are getting better. I was previously just practicing on my thighs, but there's no stick bounce so it's great to have the proper object that all high level drummers use to hone their skills in the woodshed so when we hit the stage it's smooth sailing. It's so heart warming to be getting into the tribe of kit drummers. It can be hard to pass the gatekeepers, especially arrogant drunk bass players who think it's only the drummer's job to have good time. With the drummers it's a lot more communal than lead singers, bassists, keyboardists, guitarists...I play all of them beyond common skills, but it feels like arriving home on the drum kit. The arrival of my first practice pad is the step I skipped when a friend gifted me my first starter kit from his vast library of discarded percussion objects, the drummer support community stepping right in from the beginning in 2018, the beginning of taking my beginner intermediate drum skills to professional level. I have my snare drum out of storage, but can't do rudiments with the neighbors, so rude those rude-i-ments. hahaha. Thus the improvement in my inner weather. I've been reading Tolkien, so better end it here before I write a whole book on your comments page! Thanks for doing these things, it's wonderful to have some guidance from other good wizards who always have angles on things I may not have considered.

💔 Pursuing it but first a hurricane that displaced me, now my mom passing away and a father with cancer and my own "abnormal" cells have returned. Surgery in January. A rest at the bottom grazing would be a nice change. I don't care about the "season". At almost 61 the climb is tiring. Ha, Mars in my rising sign. I’m definitely in an interesting place in life right now. Part of me feels like I am making progress with my thoughts and emotions, but then the other part of me in the physical seems partially stuck in the mud. Wanting to give my energy to the right things I find myself maybe conserving too much energy when I should be giving my energy to at least something.
