Yes, a truly beautiful piece of machinery, though not maintained properly, unfortunately.

New York City Elevators Simon is known for that unfortunately

@@williamscoufaras7045 Yes. Remember when Dan got stuck on a freight here at the mall with dieselducy? Whenever I think of that I don't want to get on. And from watching that video, it did not take a detective to concur that poor maintenance was the issue at hand. Very unfortunate how that company continues to neglect its customers and tenants while trying to expand its retail portfolio with big and glitzy new malls.

New York City Elevators ikr! Thankfully I haven’t heard any stories about this particular freight elevator. The freight elevator that got stuck on Dan & Andrew was next to Nordstrom

@@williamscoufaras7045 Yeah, I have yet to step foot on that. Security is always near the entrance to that corridor, and I just have not had a good opportunity to go back there. I did ride the one near the food court, and had an encounter.

0:36 that was just the interlock locking the door. Freight elevators generally have interlocks that have louder popping sounds than regular passenger elevators

Thanks for letting know. I am new to the freights and I really appreciate it.

New York City Elevators Absolutely! No problem!

New York City Elevators yeah freight elevators with vertical doors have different kinds of interlocks and are a little bit more audible

1:58 The Dover trick still should have worked even though you were a couple seconds late.

Yeah, when I was filming I thought I was too late, but when I reviewed the tapes afterwards, I realized it would have worked. These freight elevators in the mall are something I am new too, and if you cannot tell from the video I was scared as hell back there.

Around what time of day did u film these? And how often is there security in this area? I’ve thought about doing at least 1 ride on one of these elevators someday
@newyorkcityelevators5 жыл бұрын
This video was filmed at approximately 2:00 pm. I find that security is not in this area as much because it is at the end of the mall near Neiman Marcus; security tends to congregate by the center court in front of Nordstrom's. However, as you obviously know, you can never exactly tell who is going to pop out at a certain time. That is why I tried to be rather low-key and quiet. You should be alright, but remember to take care and look around if you are going to ride the freight. If you had to ask me, I would think the best time to film would be right when the mall opens, closes, or lunch hour. But to be honest, most of the people in the service corridors are parcel deliverers and such like you saw from my video, or store merchants. And for the most part, they really do not care about people riding the freight. For all they know, we work there.

This new paint job is kinda ugly ngl. It’s like they paint the cab white and leave the gate, the outside doors, and the guide rail metal blue like it all clashes together. I’d prefer if they left it all blue. They didn’t even do a good job repainting it to begin with
@newyorkcityelevators5 жыл бұрын
Yes I noticed that the car looked different, so I looked up another video to see the old look, and it was much nicer. Typical Simon to do a "half-ass" job when performing any kind of desperately-needed "maintenance".
@williamscoufaras70455 жыл бұрын
New York City Elevators I mean it didn’t desperately need new paint. If it did, then they should’ve painted it in a newer coat of blue
