Dover underground bunkers PT4 - Western Heights Fort WITH IKS 4K

Now living in Newport Gwent, (So not that far from you) as a kid I grew up at my grandparents, who lived on the hill, just down from detached bastion, (Westbury Road) I played inside the fort but further up towards Folkestone, (casemates further along the western heights) From the back door of the house, we looked over to the chalk cliff that you sent the drone over, never seen it looked so covered in greenery. My gran remembered the fire at the draw bridge, esp as both she and grandfather were in fire brigade. this must have been 40 odd years ago, I have not been back to Dover in years, thanks for showing and bringing back a happy childhood

Great explore guys. That used to be a family day out 30 yrs ago. nice to see it hasn't been too much abused since. Those slate floors were all in place at that time but the drawbridges seem the same and yep we did use that first route along the single beam on the right, even got the dog over it.. lol :)

This is amazing buddy loved this. They are some size motes around the castle like. Draw bridge is epic mate. Those stairs goin down. Went down canny deep like. Hahaha laughin at springy step lol. Going to keep watching

the reason for slate floors is as a flame retardent a molotov cocktail will just explode and burn out. and if they were wooden can you imagine it would be like a oxygen enfused furnace in there.

Amazing explore, wish I could find an underground map to get my bearings. Walked the moat some years ago during a drop redoubt open day but never explored inside. Such a shame this is just left to rot imagine the labour it took to build these fortifications.
