Doves have been around a long time, and they know how to make an album as a whole piece of art, not just singles. Their 'filler' tracks are normally decent and they have some great instrumentals. They have two distinct vocalists. They had a dance hit in 1993 with their earlier incarnation Sub Sub - Ain't no love, so they are pretty handy with different styles. Try..... Doves….epic band. One of the most under-rated bands . I have seen them live 9 times and never been disappointed…..so many incredible tracks. Origins in dance music. Originally called SubSub but after a fire destroyed their studio they lost everything and re-started as Doves. Check out tracks such as Pounding, caught by the river and the phenomenal Cedar Room. Just delighted that someone is now reviewing Doves! Not sure how soon we will see them live again as their UK tour has just been cancelled due to the lead singer and bassist, Jimi Goodwin struggling with some mental health issues. Get well soon Jimi!!!!

Cheers. I love this band - never seen them live though (I don't think they ever played in my country). 'The Last Broadcast' is a magnificent album. But then, they've never released a weak one.

@@murdockreviews I don’t know where you live (I live in Scotland) but they have played in Europe and also in America. As you say…never a bad album. Last Broadcast is fabulous…and the last album, the universal want, is as good as the rest.

@@jimgordon5358 I live in Austria. I think the market here is too small/uninteresting for touring for many more 'indie'-bands. I'm sure Doves played in Germany.

I wouldn't say it's my favourite on that album - the one I always come back to is "10.03". Such an incredibly good song.

Definitely not a bust after the opening song. Check out The Outsiders for a similar vibe and 10.03, which has the most epic build up. Also the title track has a cool retro country vibe to it (and I hate country but this sounded cool)

Making it to the OneWheel-playlist clearly is a badge of honour. Did I blow my load (yet again 😆)? Personally I don't think so, but the remainder of the album is a bit different - less electronic. I also love it, when albums have strong tracks towards the end 👍

Not their best by a mile. Cedar room is where to start. I think these guys would appreciate kasabian as well.
