You're welcome K R. I just used the Dowel Max the other day on my Poke Chip Box with perfect results. You will enjoy the tool and it will give back to you every penny you spend on it. Thanks for watching.

Nice demo Jeff. I have this accessory for my Dowelmax and purchased it with the jig to save on the shipping. I found that I needed to change/rotate the sacrifice boards each time to prevent tearout. I made my joints on oak with walnut dowels. It came out real nice. The hard part was trimming the dowels afterwards. I found a handplane worked best after first trimming with a trim saw.

Rotate the board! Thanks for that. I will do that next time.

Thanks for a great video Jeff! I've just ordered a Dowelmax and the mitre plate. For a decorative finish with thru dowels I'm going to alternate the bushes, eg 8mm 6mm 8mm 6mm 8mm, which should give an attractive dowel pattern of large, small, large, small and large on the faces. Also using a mix of dowel material can also upgrade the finish. The Dowelmax makes it easy to experiment with these ideas! 👍

Would the dowel joints be strong enough for the base of a casket ? If so would the placing be vertically or horizontally ? Need an eco casket and don't want any mishaps to a good friend. Not a great question I know but there are only 2 guarantees in life. 1 the government will tax us. 2 life is a temporary gift. Thanks in advance for the help.

Absolutely, I would use 3/8 and space them about every 6 to 8 inches. Thanks for watching and good luck with your project.

@@JeffFischer1 Thank you so so much. Vertical or horizontal ? Using Titebond. Thanks again. My mate will be very happy in a strange way.

@@uncelsminor Horizontal. Imagine without glue, they would still have some holding power and would not pull out.

would you mind sharing the dimensions of the nice storage box you built for your dowelmax system. Are there any features you wish you had added to the storage box?

Really would have liked to seen the finished product with the dowels trimmed off and sanded , not sure why you stopped here 😕
@JeffFischer1

I really had no use for the size box I had created from the scrap, so rather than gluing it up I wanted the ability to take it apart and use the wood for something else. After glue up you would have ended up with ellipses where the dowels were trimmed flush. I agree it would be nice to see the finished product but I wanted the wood and dowels for projects down the road. Thanks for watching.

That is a piece of 4080 aluminum extrusion that is bolted to the bottom of my work table and then in the slot I use Festool quick clamps to hold my work. It is very fast and holds very well.

Jeff Fischer Awesome idea. I need space normally for my small shop because all space is mostly walk way, but this rail set up clamp system is perfect for being able to get it out of the way when not using it. Love it!

I own the DowelMax but have not tried that feature yet. Nice demonstration but a little editing would not destroy the significant information content. You need to put a bug in Santa's ear to bring you some Irwin quick action clamps that can be operated with one hand. The Irwin's do not have the holding power of a "real clamp" but they will keep things in place until you can add a real clamp.

You can do stopped dowels as well. You would just have to adjust the collar and maybe cut the dowel depending on the thickness of your work piece. Thanks for watching.

Nice jig, but I like the Dowel Wizard tool/jig much better because it's much easier to use, less complicated and no sacrifice board needed. The cost of the Dowel Wizard is about 1/3 the cost and very accurate and does not slip out of alignment while being used. See the website www.dowelwizard.com and you'll be amazed what this neat little tool can do..

Gordon, with all do respect without using a tool I truly can't give my opinion one way or another on the way it functions. Looking at the videos it looks like fine tool. If you would like to send me one I could test it and compare it to the dowel max. I would be happy to do that and post a video. I would also be willing to send it back to you when finished.

Mr. Atkinson - can your doweling jig use spacers or some other method to set a specific desired reveal instead of always being in the center of the material? Thanks in advance.
