Time Attack Pro and Pro-Am class cars might have the most powerful engines and the wildest aero, but if you're after close, nail-biting, edge-of-the-seat racing racing, step down to the Open Class, because that's where the action is! The annual Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge lived up to its reputation once again, with broken lap records, shattered dreams and, for those who persevered until the very end, the glory and the exhilaration of winning. In this video, we follow four GCG Open Class teams to give you a taste of what it's like to compete in WTAC's most competitive class. Want to know more about WTAC? A lot of fast cars running the good old SR20DET. Say what you like about it, it's probably the most versatile engine Nissan ever made....
@gcgturbos2 ай бұрын
Most are stroked and running billet blocks now, but yeah, technically they're still SR engines, given how old that platform is, that's impressive.

19:25 got downforce?

Are the RB/SR chassis still competitive when compared to factory race teams or is it more done as a Labor of love for the platform?
@gcgturbos2 ай бұрын
Depending on the class, in the Open the Evo, Skyline and Silvia are still at the top of the table. Pro/Pro-Am are modified way beyond what you you'd consider a "RB/SR chassis/engine, but yeah, they're still there, lapping impressive times.

Is this a professional sport?? As in how Is it funded? I love the cars they're insane particularly like the Momo Corvette it's a beast
@gcgturbosАй бұрын
It is very much an amateur motorsport. Pro and Open classes do allow the teams to hire professional drivers, but all the teams are privately funded and ran. The term "Doing it for the love and glory" is an apt description of WTAC.

@@gcgturbos Yes as I watched and listened I started to realise that these people were there for the love of the the sport

Is active aero against the rules? Or just ultimately ineffective?

How about let the cars talk instead of just highlight reels and people constantly talking with annoying music... just my opinion

So you have a 2 liter four just as fast as a V8 corvette.
@gcgturbos2 ай бұрын
2.2L to be precise but yes.
@19KiloM1A12 ай бұрын
@@gcgturbos thats what is awesome. Do not need a V8 to be fast
