This is crazy! I am 13 and this is the stuff I love! Like 5-8 foot jumps. And wood jumps!

You're welcome. Check the website before you leave to see how many trails are open. The should have at least one more by then.

Sweet will do...thanks...so its pretty much a constant downhill to the bottom of the lifts..
@hoohoohoblin10 жыл бұрын
Yes. It's all downhill. You only need to pedal if you want to go faster.

Thanks. My son rides BMX on skateboard ramps and at skate parks, so he's used to big air. He was the one with the camera on his head shooting this video. I've been riding motorcycles for years and recently started riding dirtbikes. On this course, you have to just trust the bike, don't brake too much, and stay in the middle of the trail. I was pretty scared the first couple of runs, but my son says he wasn't.

They really are. They’ve raised them quite a bit since then. If you register on their website more than three days in advance, they’ll give you a discount.

Word.., trying to tell my noobs buddy you can't go here with your Walmart/Target bike. Long story short I refused to take them. Anyways, for beginners ya'll ride better than some of the riders up there...myself included. One of the best SS summer bike park review actually.
@hoohoohoblin10 жыл бұрын
Thanks. People who don't know mountain bikes think that if it looks like a mountain bike, you can ride it down a mountain. They don't understand just how much stronger a real mountain bike is, and how much good quality suspension makes a difference. When I was in college, I tried going mountain biking with my friends on a bike I bought for $25 at a garage sale. The handlebars broke on a long bumpy descent, and I had to carry the bike all the way back up to the top and wait for them to come get me when they were done. I do hope Snow Summit finishes their green beginner trail soon. That will give less experienced riders a chance to learn on an easier trail.
@JezzLundkvist10 жыл бұрын
No beginner trail, shit! I thought that was the first thing to build on any ski-resort/mountain bike area. Sure I don't ride those, but they are nice to do a warm up run on.
@hoohoohoblin10 жыл бұрын
Yeah! They were working on building a beginner trail, so they might have one by now.
@FLAMINGPICKLES9 жыл бұрын
can you do these trails without a rear suspension?
@hoohoohoblin9 жыл бұрын
I saw people doing it on hard tail bikes, so it is possible.
@FLAMINGPICKLES9 жыл бұрын
alright i should be fine if i don't case a jump i think2
@mathieumanimbo32389 жыл бұрын
It's hard but like he said you would die. But no supspension will hurt your hands and arms
@FLAMINGPICKLES9 жыл бұрын
i actually just got back. didn't hit the bike park but had a TON of fun riding local trails like Rock Creek, Downtown, and the one that dumps you at the fault line next to Downtown. I'm really feeling it without a rear suspension but it is do-able. if i go to the bike park next time i might just sack up and rent a dual suspension bike

Its only 139 for bike and full lift all day????? Plus insurance and gear? What was your total not including housing or hotel, just for the bikes and stuff
@hoohoohoblin9 жыл бұрын
Jhaas42 It was 139 for the bike and gear. The freeride bikes are cheaper and work well too. I think we paid an extra $30 for insurance on the bikes. This is optional, but we're glad we got it because we broke the shifter and bent a brake rotor when we crashed. More info is on their website. www.snowsummit.com/summer/bike-park/downhill-bike-park

How would a specialized be on this kind if thing?
@hoohoohoblin10 жыл бұрын
It depends on the model. You would want a full suspension freeride or downhill bike.
@Darkstryk0210 жыл бұрын
so my hardrock wouldnt be much use then.. Thanks anyway:)
@JezzLundkvist10 жыл бұрын
Shafi Haque An Hardrock is not recommended in trails like these. =) And a disc-brake is needed as well.

@Digiornoflocka10 жыл бұрын
so what happened when you broke the bike? you just didn't get your deposit back?
@hoohoohoblin10 жыл бұрын
You don't get the deposit back either way, so I guess it is more of an insurance fee than a damage deposit. We broke the shifter and bent one of the brake rotors, so I'm glad we paid for the insurance. I expected a $6,500 downhill racing mountain bike to be tougher, but maybe really good riders never fall down.
@POVTwins10 жыл бұрын
***** yea that shifter cost like thirty bucks. It's the baseline one. The best one of that brand is wayyyyy more

+hoohoohoblin I race mountain bikes professionally and I can tell you that they are not like MX bikes! they have wide handlebars and short stems and big suspension travel for the same reason though!

Hmmm...it could be a good way to learn how to jump with dirtbikes O.o
@hoohoohoblin10 жыл бұрын
Yes. I wasn't planning on going off any jumps that morning, but it was the only way down the mountain. My son is much better at it than I am.
@FlowHowler10 жыл бұрын
Was watching again the clip and was thinkin that mountain biking seems much more safe than skiing, i'm not actually so great on the snow, just do it once or 2 times per year but except for the open face helmet (if you get one) you don't have anything to protect yourself and it seems to me that the speed you can reach on those bikes is quite similar to the one you reach on the snow...i must try that if i find a place where they rent everything ^^

We stayed at the cheapest hotel in Big Bear, and I'd recommend paying a little more for a better hotel. It was terrible, except that it was close to downtown and Snow Summit. Check out these reviews.
