First group I ever booked for Shrewsbury College of FE.. By the time they arrived in December 1966 they were Don Craine’s Downliners Sect. Gig went down brilliantly. Played a lot of Stax Soul and an exceptional organist Matthew Fisher (Procul Harum).

Downliners Sect Chinese Whispers. Just come across this on KZbin. Sound's fantastic & I'll be looking to purchase it. Never been a great fan of the Sect but still play COUNTRY SECT which I've had since it's release. Haven't a clue why I bought it ! LOL but it's an album that's stood the test of time.

Sorry but the Downliners were a great band in the 60's , underated and unlucky....this though is just awful. They sound under rehearsed and the sound quality (nothing to do with the band) does them no favours . I understand nostalgia and the inbuilt desire to perform , but best leave the bands name in its historical past rather than destroy peoples good memories.
