💯% FACTS!! Doesn't matter your genre of music.. streaming/downloading is hurting the music industry.. one of the reasons there's alot of waaay more gimmicky artist today. It's too easy not kool

What use to be CD revenue turned to Consert revenue..10x the work but huge W for the consumers.

People started downloading because most artists started to put no effort into their music outside of singles. They'd make an album full of filler tracks and 2 or 3 good singles and expect people to pay the full price of an album.

But just because you get a wider reach doesn’t mean that they will be buying your music though.

People started downloading music because people would place a couple fire tracks featuring a 10-pack of ass and sell the shit for $10-15 bucks and just started mailing shit in, the consumers just came to scoop what they needed and dip without being fleeced for what could’ve bought you a meal

It hurt the business back then because instead of buying the album they would download the individual songs for free thus taking money for the artist. Back then illegal downloading was happening a lot and it affected not just music but movies as well. Online piracy was a huge issue back in the 2000s that affected musicians big time
