On the 28th of August 2016 the Downpatrick and County Down Railway held a diesel day with two locomotives of the diesel fleet running! One of the locos running was 001 (A) class A39R which was running for the first time after its repaint into 1970s black and orange livery. The other loco running was 141 (B) class 146 which is one of the last remaining examples of the class. We were also treated to seeing the start-up and testing around the yard of 201 (C) class C231 which also features in this video. It was a fantastic day and I would highly recommend a visit to the DCDR. A big thanks go to Mike Beckett from the Irish Traction Group for giving us cab rides and showing us around the yard and sheds and all of the volunteers at the Downpatrick and County Down Railway for making this all possible.
Shout out to the Irish Traction Group and Mike Beckett’s KZbin Channels which have some great videos of the Downpatrick and County Down Railway.
